  1. If "Bob" is the guy who taped and posted both Orpheum shows, he was not at the Portland show.  Damn him!  I saw a pretty substantial rig set up in front of the board, so I was expecting a recording to circulate.

Well that explains it, worldrecordplayer.  I saw a rig too and assumed this was him.

  2. I am assuming there will be a Retribution Gospel and separate Low shows with the EP featuring Nels.

    Would love to see:

    Lady Lamb the Beekeeper

    Debo Band

    Tinariwen

    Woods

    Deep Dark Woods

    Jim James or Carl Bromel

    Malkmus

    Antibalas

    Ebo Taylor

  3. Some random morning after follow up as the Starbucks courses its way through my veins:

Surprised they weren't using any stage backdrop like the one they've had out so far-same as Friday night at Solid Sound. I thought the stage was missing something without it, though Tinnitus Photog. says the lights looked great from first row balcony. I was Row A (yes!) on the floor, behind the pit, and was missing the backdrop.

How could I forget The Late Greats in my original post, duh!

    Some Tweedy banter:

-"Last time we were in Boston we did 39 songs. That ain't happening again. Ever. You don't want us to do that. Much better to bring Nick Lowe with us."

    - when they came out for the encore, "Lets rock the shit out of this encore." And that they did.

My buddy recorded from the floor, says came out awesome, should be up on bt.etree before noon.

    Today's Boston Globe review: http://www.bostonglo...FfvWM/story.xml

Looked like a great show peeps! Please post the Globe article so we don't have to sign up for useless shit tracking, Globe sucks BTW. Encore was bombah...

  4.

yep! most of Wilcos records have been mastered here. I live in Portland and walked all over the place looking for them. No luck.

But yeah Ludwig and the people at Gateway Mastering do really awesome work for local musicians and also big names.

I am from Maine as well and was walking around that day they tweeted being in Portland! No sightings though, I always keep an eye out on that place everyone gets their masters there. Even Jim James from MMJ talked about his love for Portland, mastering music and reviewing while on drives through the Maine landscape. Bob Ludwig is perhaps the most important person in the music industry, the only reason I say this is because of his clientel. He masters the best music.

  5. Great show set in a great town and played in great theater. We were first balcony middle 4 back and had trouble seeing Jeff, but we could hear him very well. We all remarked at how dim the lighting was, not much more than in my living room, but thats how he likes it I guess. I felt he started off very well with VC and the bed into a surprising IATTBYH in its typical position for a Wilco setlist. Black eye, Solitaire, Muzzle, Hummingbird, the greats, P-side and Loose fur hits were all massive highlights for me. I thought the setlist petered a bit cause I "prefer the more experimental earlier stuff"! I thought it was a tad heavy on Wilco the album though. I will tell you I love that new white guitar of his, it sounds amazing and better without the mic.

Poster was lacking any art, sorry I like pictures not words. Words get old and twisted, pictures do not.

Very good times, no paul from what I could see. Looking forward to setting sail on the SS2!

  6. Another fantastic show. I agree with Kalle, I think the setlist topped the first show's. "Not For the Season" and "Radio King" were definite highlights for me.

I have to confess, "You And I" isn't up there for me but Feist did sound pretty good. And she and Jeff really looked like they were having fun.

The merch table was a bit sparse ("Wilco (the album)" , "Adult Head", tote bag, etc.) I picked up the "All God's Money" show poster as a souvenir, though. Couldn't resist.

Nice to meet some fellow VC'ers. See you at SS!

Looks like a great setlist, I hope we get something like that in Portland. Was there a show poster for the at all?

  7. "Can't Stand It" and "Always In Love" from Summerteeth Era (99?) with (Leroy, Jay, Jeff, John, and Ken)

"War On War" and "I'm The Man Who Loves You" from the early YHF days... with (Jeff, John, Leroy, Glen)

    Good Stuff...

Yeah, thats right! Glad you saw it!

  8. I read recently here that Wilco had made a video which aired on palladium or mtv at one point. Well, while I was looking for that and laid-up with a broken foot I came across a Summerteeth circa and later short perfromance compilation from Joolz Holland on On-Demand for Comcast in the Northeast. In the music section under all live shows, Wilco is in the last category. It starts with classic old school Wilco with the original line-up I think and finishes with Glenn on drums and no Bennett I believe which appears to be post YHF. I have no way of recording it unfortunately.

  9. Thanks. I didn't receive this email and neither did Hazel, though, so I wonder if you could post the header information, like who sent it. I bought the pale yellow stache shirt and have had the same problem. I wonder what mailing list they're using to send out the emails. At any rate, I would be glad to try to follow up with the sender once I know who it was. Thanks!

I found it in my junk mail folder randomly. I hope they come soon!

  10. Did anyone pick up the poster they were printing upstairs in the demo? He said they were giving them away at certain points during the weekend. I never got one and would love to buy one, I did sign up on the printers (forgot his name) email list. Any links would be helpful.

  11. I think the Historic valley and Windsor lakes campgrounds are one in the same but they are two distinct town parks, oh well. I hear ya Fax, wish they were running the shuttles to all campgrounds including Clarksburg, who knows, maybe they will if aware of how many people are staying at these places. I figure at least half the campers will be for Wilco, if not, why the hell else?

    So pumped...

  12. i can deal with scattered T-storms. And after two weeks of brutal heat where i live, a good soaker might not be to bad as long as it doesn't interfere with my recording. Speaking of taping, is anyone else on this board planing on running a wire for this event other than me?

Don't put any weight in nothing more than someone looking into a crystal ball. That's all meterology is these days, that and looking at your competition's forecast. Things change greatly here in New England, we have had a pretty dry summer as opposed to last year's deluge. Hopefully the clouds can't hear me, but we have had relatively dry weekends most of the summer, shhhh! EXPECT a thunderstorm or two, it is August in New England and North Adams is pretty hilly (berkshires) compared to the rest of Assachusetts. Go to NWS or weather.com for climate data if you need to look that far in advance.

I really think its too early to talk about weather, but who care's what I think, chat it up!

  13. We need the SSF organizers to rope off a parking section within the Moca for all the Wilco plate holders travelling to the festival. What a great picture that could be! Or make it like a cruise night, and everyone shows up to hang in the parking lot. I saw a plate parked at the FOMBA trails in NH with a WILCO 2 NH state license plate last week. I couldn't find the guy to compliment him on it though. I wonder who has WILCO 1 in NH? Tinnitus Photogs? Anyway, just a thought.

  14. Be sure to carry your harmonica along just in case. Never know when someone will request "Jodel."

I got a "Keymonica" you can always use. Its on my keychain ready for any jam session. I am practicing She's a Jar right now. I was thinking of starting a micro band with finger instruments and stuff. That would have been an awesome display at the festival right next to bread and puppet, cover all of wilco's songs, that would be some undertaking though.

  15. I am extending an offer to all for additional people to join my campsite! I have a waterfront site at Clarksburg by myself and am open to others joining me if anyone needs a homebase. I have a small tent and all the necessary camping items, you just need a tent, food and beverages. I plan on drinking beer at the site and we can do so if we are quiet and discreet (with cups because of the no alcohol rule, but not to worry as I have never been busted at a mass campsite before). I am coming from North of Massacusetts if you need to carpool, doubt I'd have room in my little car though. I have the site from Friday thru Monday. I am really a super nice 36 year old guy that is considerate and concientous of all. My buddy would normally be joining me, but because of scheduling conflicts that won't happen.

Send a PM if Interested and Thanks!

  16. thanks! it was a bit of a drag that they wouldn't let us shoot from outside the barricade...trying to get a shot of all 8 band members in one image is a bit daunting when you are 2 feet away from them. i can't understand why they wouldn't let us just run up to the 3rd balcony and take 10 seconds to get a shot...

at least it wasn't a lockdown like last night's Danzig show. i'd been told that Glenn was not issuing any photo passes for the entire tour so i didn't go, but a friend said he got hassled and almost kicked out by security for taking a photo from ~70' away w/ his phone...apparently Glenn had threatened to leave the stage and abort the show if he saw anyone taking photos. :stunned

Great shots T! Is the HOB worth seeing a show there? I haven't been yet, but like all HOBs, they are booking the shit out of the place. Many of my favorite acts play there now as opposed to the Middle East, Roxy or Paradise.
