  1. FYI, Jambase is showing three confirmed acts and days for Solid Sound Festival. Start with the Mavis Staples piece on how Tweedy influenced it, production, etc. and then see her summer dates for Solid sound info. Mavis and Mountain Man are Saturday headline (if not Wilco) and Avi Buffalo is playing Sunday at at some point. I'd love to see Wilco 3 nights in a row! Fingers crossed.

  2. I appreciate and respect your opinion, Analogmoon. I think it goes back to the days of trading Dead tapes. Those shows were only meant to be shared and tape recorded if anything. It was respectable and familial to do so. Great recording job since the Webfeed went out, doubt we will ever see the SB for this one.

  3. lol...i can hear myself dropping my flask of whiskey twice! Kind clumsy I guess. I had a robocop usher at the end of my row and I had to try to be real discreet. lol

So....was it you yelling 'DOWN IN FRONT" during the acoustic set? j/k that was kinda lame. The whole place was on their feet.

The recording was well worth the wait. Thanks Dave! Great mix. I haven't heard all the shows from this tour but this one might be the best sound quality wise.

No, I would never yell such a thing, and screw those who did. I started the "Cahn-cad" yelling when Jeff messed up the pronounciation after Radio Cure. Basically, Chicago and West of the Mississippi have trouble pronouncing our locales just like we (not me) can't pronounce their's. Like retards who say OR-A-GONE instead or Orugun!

  4. Thanks for putting that together Dave. It sounds great! If anyone is interested I've converted the FLAC to MP3 (192kbs) for my wife's car. I can zip and post it to a file sharing service if anyone wants 'em.

Thanks so much to the folks responsible for putting this up, it sounds really good. It always brings a smile to my face to hear myself sceaming while being recorded.

  5. Hi all! Question for the locals. I am going to buy a ticket and plan to camp. My ideal campsite would be quiet, woodsy, scenic, with maybe some good trout/bass fishing available. I would love to bring my Mtn bike and ride to the venue if possible.

Which of the campgrounds fits this bill the best?

Thanks in advance. I know the topic has been discussed a lot but there is no clear answer. I am leaning towards Savoy. -Erik

No yocal here, but I am staying at Clarksburg so that I CAN mtn bike or long board to the festie. Savoy is up a large harpin hill that does not look fun to bike home after a long day. No idea about the other campgrounds in town, although others are making contact with the Windsor Town Campground alas. BTW, how many municipalities have campgrounds funded and staffed by the Town? Awesome! Not even in the sticks here in NH do we have these services. Not sure about the fising at Clarksburg, it could be good but its a rough pond with no defined edge, a canoe would help. I will bring my rods anyways, so maybe we will find each other on the water! Staying in one of the lakeside spots.

  6. I am so pumped for this festival, the first true Wilco fest! Fantasy band camp will be a blast. FYI, The picture of my avatar is of an old mixing board at the entrance to Mass Moca. Anyways, just wanted to let all know there are still camping spots available at Clarksburg State Park, 3.5 miles from the venue. At $14 a night with showers and bikeable from town, its a no brainer for me. It seems closer to town with several direct road accesses, closer than Savoy Mt. I got one of the last lake side spots but there are 50% of sites left. I will be there all weekend and having friends and family intermittenly, so it will be great for one-nighters and the kiddies. If we can formulate a plan, perhaps a Wilco group BBQ could be in store at the campground?

I vowed to return to the MASS MOCA after a truly religious art experience the same weekend as Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks. That was a blast, but this will be outside and the grounds are really cool with installation art in and amongst all the factory buildings with art all over them too! The art alone is worth coming to this museum, its all interactive and you can walk through it or sleep next to it, whateva you want to do, sometimes you have the whole room, its a really trippy place and worthy of psychedelics, so enjoy I will! If you are staying at the Holiday Inn, you are set, its a block away and at the heart of the city. This place is a unique run-down mill town rehabbed by retiring New York artists. Lots of biking and history to check out. The museum food is surprisingly good as well, like Au Bon Pain.

  7. I know its a few days late but I wanted to give a brief review of my hometown experience in "Cahn-Cahd", as I was screaming so intently to Jeff that he could hear it. That was my funniest moments as he couldn't hear me the first time but then someone onstage clued him in and he got it right after a couple tries. "you guys can just change the name of a town whenever you want?", of course Jeff its New England where nothing sounds as it looks! But anyways, the sound, the sound, the sound...the abosulte goddam best sound quality show I have heard other than Shelburne for some reason. Not even Tanglewood comes close. The theatre looks as good as ever after being completely remodeled and the staff are all super nice as I know several. The opening set knocked my socks off as I was expecting this feeling after the acoustic set. Ashes>BBN with Nels wavering above the guitar like a Theremin was heaven-sent, he needs to bust out one of those if he hasn't done so yet. Because of this I am really looking forward to the guitar clinic with Nels at Solid Sound. Anyways, Summerteeth>Misunderstood, Radio Cure were other highlights, I absolutely loved the transition into and out of acoustic, its so cool to see that. Acoustic set was as expected, I love the Wilco expansion/experimentation sound (krautrock as others here call it, which i can't stand cause it ain't even close) of Spiders as we have seen this version before at Jeff solo shows, but Cars Can't Escape, Hesitating Beauty and Lammy Cat were all a surprise and took awhile to figure it out! I haven't seen A Wheel closer for a while so that was a sick way to end it.

Just a couple comments on the crowd which is what I expected at this venue. Alot of the patrons were older members who had no idea who Wilco is, seeing as how its Cahn-Cahd the artsy community had to check them out. So, what we had was a full house for 3-4 songs and then the purple hairs left, which opened things up nicely. I do feel the weather played a role as even I was tired after prepping well for the show. As much as I love Wilco, I do feel that 3+ hours of constant music is a bit much with no breaks at all. I'd rather see two 1.5 hour sets with a hour between. Anyways, I didn't stop rocking the whole show, I never do even as others around me look at me like a freak and I look back at them like a freak for not dancing. Let your FREAK FLAG FLY is my motto, within reason of course! If I am doing anything it takes just to see a band, I am sure as hell going to enjoy myself. But as always, it is New England so you really have to be too cool for school to go wild at a concert like a little girl, YOU are always better than the person next to you, right? Then there are the dad's draggin their kids to the show to show them how cool he is still, but can't go crazy in public so as to set a good example which is all fine with me. Bummed at the lack of weed during this show WTF? It is NH though where its a felony possibly.

All in all, Me and my buddy had a blast. Wished I went to Boston to hear I Must Be High as I requested it in Cahnk (as we affectional call it). FYI, according to Wilco base this was the 3rd time playing in NH, I swear they played UNH in the late 80's early 90's. My favorite shows; Shelburne, Tanglewood, Cahn-cahd, Newport, Missoula, Portland, Lowell,

  8. I jumped ship. :ninja

Jeff did say that this was the best crowd for this particular tour. :thumbup

Word of advice: Stay hydrated during these shows. Eat well. You don't really want to miss anything. Actually, my bath room break occurred during Jesus, Etc. :innocent

And I do have to say that standing for the whole show really didn't bother me as much as I thought that it would. (and I was expecting to relax during the acoustic portion along with everyone else, but nope everyone literally stood. It was quite a sight to see. People were there for Wilco.)

Pot Smoke Pot: There were definitely about (no lie) 10 people that lit up around me during the show and no one came over. Nobody even went over to complain about people smoking? Oh well. No big deal. The security was very lax and old (laxative ?)

U2roolz, out of respect because you are human and you are entitled to your opinions, but I take offense to your pot comment. Just a reminder that you were in Mass where its decrimed and you were at a Wilco show where pot is/was a theme whether you like it or not. FYI, Its gonna stink tonight too in Concord and U2 does not rule! Here you have MY opinion. Great show nonetheless, I must be high!!!

  9. Roadhse ma, its gonna be an hour and half to two hours from boston during rush hour. That being said, be on 93 by 5 or 5:30, your gonna be in the height of it for sure. Again, parking seems to be confusing but there are lots of street parking, no meters after 5 or 6pm. You could literaly walk end to end on main street and find parking spots to go to the show. But again, the Catholic Church a block away behind a barber and you can park there for free after you genenuflect (sp?) the altar, kidding. No, they really don't care as long as you don't tailgate. For drinks, the Green Martini is the dive bar of Concord, Penuche's (hard to find and actually this is THE dive bar of NH, played my first gig there at 15 years old!), Margarita's (close to penuche's), Barley House, Draft (across street from venue), another place across the street that I can't name (pool hall of some sorts???). For food, the Common Man off exit 13, Vinnie's Pizza (near McDonald's, best pizza in NH hands down!), Ichiban sushi (happy hour 4-6pm, east off exit 13 on Manchester St), Centennial Inn (high class, boston type joint). Food pretty much sucks in Concord if you are looking for culture. Concord is kinda the stepchild of Manch, not that I look up to Manchvegas at all, just size wise. Also, Concord used to have the state mental hospital full of wackjobs, they are still around but not as prevelant.

  10. So pumped for this show in my hometown! So, my buddy has been contacted by the Center regarding a ticket upgrade. We have tickets in the forth row to the side, but now because Wilco has too much stuff onstage, we are now being moved to much better seats! This is why I love seeing shows at this place, the people there take music seriously and want you to have the best possible experience. My first show ever was at the Center seeing Joan Jett and Cheap Trick double bill back in 1982, take it for what its worth. Dark Star, Yes, Feist and others have made for memorable times for sure. FYI, if there is no parking on the street, park next door at St. John's Catholic Church for free, entrance is in the back.

  11. This album is amazing, every Wilco fan should run to their nearest record store and get it. This is exactly what I wanted to hear from Wilco the back-up band. Its super trippy with killer synths/guitar (nels), showcases all members (and more with Tweedy's kid on drums) and shows just how talented they all are for pulling this off in one day! Nels and Mikael rip some underlying solos amazingly. Its definately better than the original for what that's worth. Like everyone has been saying, its more interesting reading about the album than listening to the original. Beck, Wilco, Fiest and Jason Colette do serious justice to this album.

  12. Yes! A Cracker string. Cracker has always been one of my favorite bands ever because they make music that the want to make not what the label wants. I see them everytime they come around New England which is usually twice a year. Seen them many times coast to coast. The last one was in Cambridge this summer, they sounded good and loud (I always forget earplugs). The new stuff is awesome live and they always play the hits. Highlights were: Hey Brett, Time Machine, Thistle Pie, Big dipper, shake some, I could be wrong, ETG, Low, Teen Angst, Happy B-day, Flower power, and Riverside.

  13. auditorium venue - circa 1983 - general admission

out of nowhere a cop grabs your arm after he notices you're smokin' a doob.

your buddy (holding) runs from the stands toward an empty exit area, so the cop loosens his grip.

    do you...

    a. wait to see if he goes for your friend, then get lost in the crowd.

    b. assist the cop in loosening his grip, then get lost in crowd.

    c. surrender peacefully, then curse Billy Squire 'til the day you die.

In 1983, definately "B". Now that I am old, I'd pull a "C" like in Maine. Don't fight and they won't bother you. I just had to pull another one out and light it up, always bring a back-up!

  14. I have one extra ticket to Portland that I would rather trade to a VCer than sell out front. Preferably, I'd like a "kind", medical grade trade. If you don't have that, perhaps you have some nice, quality art or Wilco swag (lowell poster would be nice) that I might want. Hit me up and find out.

  15. does anyone have any information about the maine state pier? i'm trying to find info regarding the layout, capacity, parking etc... any help is greatly appreciated!

Baystock.com is the only place to get an idea of the scene for Pier Revue shows. You can see the stage, views, and the fact that its not in the warehouse next door. Well, hopefully not in the warehouse anyways.

  16. Seeing as how we sold two tickets to scalpers at Lowell for Portland, there is a very good chance that scalpers will be there. We saw many scalpers at the Lowell show, lots of tickets available on the street and many less than face.

I might have one extra but won't know until tomorrow for sure.

  17. Hope the weather holds out. Weather.com says isolated t-storms and rain all day... After lowell I'm not sure I can handle another rainy show.

Praying for no rain...I for one cannot afford anymore "rain dances" as JT would say. It will be a beautiful back drop if the Sun shines. I wonder what they are doing in the 3 days between shows, Acadia, NYC or Chi Town?

  18. Sweet thread! After all the name calling and insults perhaps someone can get around to a decent review of the show. It was Wilco for christsakes! I love Wilco but hate seeing them anywhere in MA thanks to the junk show that is Massachusetts (if you live in New England you understand). Lowell and Tanglewood were fine examples of this junk show of joey-bag-o-donuts from RI, guido/wannabe models straight out of the North End, people who can't mind their own business while texting, pushy, egocentric cops and hipster/yupster daddies trying to show their kids they can be cool (see, I can shit-talk just like the rest of them).

The boys seemed to be having a great time, Wilco played masterfully and only get better with age. Loved Wilco the song live, Deeper down was sick, Side with the seeds was rocking, Spiders. Conor was great, good to see musicians having a good time for once. Really looking forward to Portland since this show was cut short which I thought was "Rain or Shine"? Unless it pours, great planning. I hope you all enjoyed our pungent odors at the show...the only good thing going for mass.
