  1. Justin Townes Earle-if I can shake my hangover from last night.

Update: my date just pulled out. Should I go by myself? It's 45 minutes away. But I really like JTE. *sigh*

  2. I'm pretty happy with the lineup.  I'm not wowed, there is nobody that I'm dying to see.  But, I'm sure I will enjoy most of it.  I'm looking forward to Real Estate and Parquet Courts.  Bill Frisell, NRBQ, and The Felice Brothers will be good to see too.  Time for some homework.

It helps that I live only a couple hours away.  I would drive that far for only Wilco, so the rest is a bonus.

  3. Gathering Of The Vibes are put on by a bunch of friends of mine, actually it's a lot of the same group of people who work Solid Sound, that's the connection.  A great bunch of people, our roots go back to the 80s working a couple festivals in Norwalk CT.  A lot of this same crew also work Lockin and some do work at the Capitol Theater, and many other Festivals all Summer long.  Ken who runs Terrapin Presents (GOTV) is a Wilco fan and he has tried getting them in the past, I'm very excited for this, this is the one I've been waiting for ;^)

Well, this makes me feel better about it.  I can't go, but I'll be happy getting my fix at Solid Sound.

  4. I live an hour away and won't go. It's not a really pleasant festival, despite sometimes having good music. I'll be out of town, so I won't have to make the decision anyway. But I also don't feel like I'm going to miss much.

  5. Last night's "Album of the Year" award going to Beck is only the third time this century that I have actually owned the album which won.

It's possibly the first time that one of my favorite artists won that award since 1968's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

Have you read Kanye's comments?  What a douche.

  6. That stuff is Shakespeare compared to My Humps. Have you guys heard the lyrics to that song?

If you've got lumps, bumps or humps, you should see a dermatologist...or an oncologist.

The Flight of the Conchord's riff on that, Sugarlumps, is a riot.

  7. i'd rather deal with strollers inside than lawn chairs and blankets holding down spaces in front at the field stage.

Well, of course.  That goes without saying.

I also want to clarify.  I have zero problems with kids being there.  We have more fun (and my kids have more fun) with them at their grandparent's.  There's room for all kinds of people in this world.  I was just presenting an idea for a local babysitter at night, in case someone wanted to consider the option.

  8. I just want to make it clear I am no way against having kids at SS.  I have kids, and if they were into it, I would bring them.  It's cheaper, and more fun for my husband and I to have a weekend away doing something we love together.

I will say, last year strollers inside were a big issue.
