neither Bono nor Neil were there.
Bono guested with Arcade Fire in Ireland on Friday night.
I actually think Ole sounds better than any of the material put out in the last two studio albums.
nah.
the S/T was actually pretty decent for the most part. Backspacer sucked besides 3-4 songs.
Ole is just uber cheesy

no one was at the festival? heard dennis rodman was there, my buddy said he hung out with him....but my buddy's a pathological liar so.........
i gave him a high-five on my way out of the photo pit after The Strokes, your buddy wasn't lying that he was there anyway
anywho, Ole is no bueno

decent song, but a bit uneventful/dull for our first taste of new music in 4 years...

Almost
in Just A Fan

i'd prolly give the album like a 6.5 on the Pfork scale myself
-
besides 3-4 songs i haven't been able to get into the album (that first song is especially cringeworthy), but saw them play an acoustic in-store as a 3-piece that was pretty decent, but their set opening for Iron & Wine was pretty damn great.

I meant e-mail notifications which seem to be working. Thanks.
ah, sweet. thanks!
-
Are the notifications working? Guess I'll find out with this post.
you mean iPhone push notifications? if so, no. those require a more expensive/perpetual IPB license.

Journey / Foreigner / Night Ranger!
haha
photographing it... def not paying for it
-
Is there something that needs to be redone or reset to use the ipb app for iPhone? Mine seems to be lost...
And thanks for all your help on this!
is there an update for it?
-
I wonder what that was about. It seems odd that David Lynch would be in there.

Type your text, select it, then click the hyperlink button (a chain link with a +, the one to the right of it removes links), type in your URL and hit ok

you've probably also noticed that the URL for the forum has been changed from http://forums.viachicago.org to just http://viachicago.org.
there's a few reasons i decided to go this route, but i think it makes more sense honestly, since the forum IS Via at this point.
so update your bookmarks!

seemed to have gone smoothly.
hopefully people aren't TOO confused by everything :/
honestly i like the changes quite a bit though, i've been looking forward to it since the betas.
we're not on the new server JUST yet... running into some issues with regards to that, but hopefully soon.
-
really? i've noticed their mobile app to be slower than Rdio for me... maybe it's because of iOS5 beta tho
-
ah...
was just saying i don't think 95-100 minutes is exactly a "short" set
-
Lou has said at his solo shows that J typically only has 14-15 songs in the set list nowadays with only one of those being Lou's. I saw J solo a few months back and it was short, albeit great set.
J. played over 90 minutes here in Minneapolis

Forgotten how much I loved the sound and production on this.
f'n LOVE that album. sadly i didn't take to their 2nd one nearly as much and i don't think i even heard their 3rd :/
-
Sounds like that would be cool. So is/was Porchlight basically a dying star with no support, waiting to expire? There was maybe 15 of us participating although it was pretty much tumbleweeds and crickets until she toured or put out a new release. I actually keep in touch with some of my fellow Porchlighters outside of the forum (Hi Louie!) so it's no great shakes if it did indeed went 'poof!'. Just sorta sad about it, I guess.
unfortunately i think that is the case...
i'm handing over the reigns to Via for the most part and i don't know that it'll be sustainable to keep hosting something that gets so little use. but i def understand people would like an archived version for reading

i love it too, but i'll admit i grew a bit tired of it after a month... plus i've heard so so things about their live show :/ (seeing The Rosebuds & Other Lives the night they're here in a few weeks)
-
unfortunately due to licensing issues with Invision Power Board i was unable to move it to this new server a while back...
i have a backup from last year sometime i believe that I might be able to put up for archival purposes (haven't been able to put up the Via archives either since the switch, but those will come in time)
