  1. yeah, i can see that... you're really winning me over by telling me to go fuck myself first thing in the a.m.

you are a real swell guy.

    your point.... ?

uh, you're a guy with an avatar of a steroid-abusing DH?

surely a portion of your 17K+ posts are more insightful than picking some net feud with me?

i'm curious if you're able to post any thoughts/comments that aren't some reaction to something i said...

  2. Oh, okay - fuck you.

    hey, good one!

i get it now... you're butt-hurt because i laughed at U2 for being bloated and overhyped.. i do hope you're able to get through the rest of the day.

sorry man, R&H sucks and so does the "new" VH.

    just my 0.02 cents.

  3. "worst lineup ever..."

So you're one of those people who post in threads to tell people they don't like what's being discussed in those threads. Do they make teddy bears of you? Cuz I wanna hug and kiss you all night long.

i have zero idea what you're trying to say big papi.

just point to the area on the doll where the man touched you...

so i'm not allowed to weigh in on something unless it's glowing praise? riiight.

sorry if you wasted your hard-earned duckets on this shell of LZ's former self. or VH.

  4. with or w/o you?

still haven't found what i'm looking for?

Bono w/ the acoustic guitar draped around his back?

these are the songs and moments that make me want to vomit...

The Unforgettable Fire was a great U2 album... then i don't know wtf they were trying to be and wasn't the least bit interested again until achtung/zooropa..

probably the most overrated, most bloated and overhyped band in history.

  5. Van Halen --- This was before the got big. Their first album had come out earlier that yeat, and they were on their first nationwide tour. They went onstage early in the day with borrowed gear (their equipment had been stolen). Eddie was a guitar god and DLR's stage antics had yet to become so irritating. They made am impressio...one could sense bigger things were at hand for them.

i'm thinking i'm a tad envious of this one...

  6. ah jeez, where to start; i only have exact dates on a few of these...

    3/26/85

    Roger Waters

Radio City Music Hall (pros & cons of hitchhiking tour)

phenomenal... oh, and btw, which one's pink? definitely Rog... years later, i'd regret laying out righteous cash for Dry Floyd, which was horrible.

    Grateful Dead

    Hershey, PA

i believe the ticket for this show was 13.50

not much more needs to be said

    july 1989

    GD/balls of lightning roll along.

at one point during the torrential downpour, John Sher gets on the mic, imploring everyone to get off the field/tarp and go to their seats, warning us that we're "all going to get killed."

    4/25/90

    Rush

    Byrne Arena

dude who gave me tix for this one and who was supposed to squeeze me a drop of liquid joy had an itchy trigger finger and ended up leaving a puddle on my hand ["don't waste it!" he says as it's ready to pour down my arm]

i did what any civilized human being would do and slurped up the 5-6 doses.

it took me until recently seeing a dvd from that very show to realize that the giant dancing Presto bunnies were really there, dancing, during War Paint.

    circa 1994

Quazar (Beastie Boys unannounced all-hardcore show)

somewhere over on St. Marks Place NYC.. i forget, we were snorting bumps of blow and smack off one of the tables, it was a proud moment.

circa 1995 (sorry for all the circas, it's been a wild ride)

    Yellowman

some tiny club in Deerfield Beach, FL, for $5 bucks.

    Neville Staple of The Specials

some shitty club in the Mission, SF

    winter 2006 (jan/feb?)

saw JT acoustic at The Fillmore then walked across the street just as his encores ended and caught The English Beat at John Lee Hooker's Boom Boom Room.

    St. Paul, MN

    4th row

    the dinosaurs refuse to die...

  7. i thought the lossless format was the norm, across the board...

other than when i'm listening to .wav format that's already burned to a CDR, i pretty much listen to all my boots in .flac format with Winamp.

if you're used to mp3 formats and haven't been spoiled on the high-end audio like i have been then it probably doesn't make a big difference. but i'm all frowns when someone sends me a CDR with mp3s on it.

    :-(

    see?

  8. just curious why there's no lossy format protocol... isn't distributing shows in mp3 format a no-no?

converting .flac to .wav or .mp3 is simple.

i thought trading in lossless formats was the cornerstone of the trading niche..

only time i convert a show to mp3 is when i rip it to my iPod.

  9. Hey there. I have heard so much about the Grateful Dead. So I looked up their albums. But theres a lot of albums! What would the 3 to 5 best albums be to introduce a newbie to them? Any input would be much appreciated.

wow, one of my favorite topics...

i grew up in the Brent Mydland era and only saw one show post-Brent.

forget albums and graduate straight to The Kind as this was the quintissential live act.

IMO, these are the finest SBDs out there (from the 80s).
