  1. Hollinger,

It would be cool to meet up with you at the show :) Where are you sitting? I'm in Section B, Row G...seat 8 I think!

I live in DM and am curious about this show. I like his music, but am not familiar enough with it to shell out the $. Hoyt Sherman is a beautiful venue. Saw Lyle Lovett's acoustic trio there many years ago.

Thanks for the info on the venue. I asked a friend about it but he hadn't been there yet either.

If you are able to download torrents, you can get some Andrew Bird music from here. Or you can check out Daytrotter, which is run by some local guys, there are 4 songs on here..I think you can also hear some of his music on his website possibly.

Hope you pick up some of that and enjoy it :) Maybe someone else will have some suggestions as to where you can hear his music.

  2. I admit I'm tired so I skimmed most of this...

Info for you to know which I hope I'm not restating...

Keep your Xbox in a cool area where air can travel, I mean do not put it in an entertainment center surrounded by 3 walls with no circulation. The internal fans suck hence the red ring of death. If you have the cash buy an Intercooler (thats the actual name) it, which sorta clips on the back and gives you an extra bit of cooling. I've also had customers tell me they put a house fan behind their entertainment center (one with no back) and that worked pretty good. Hope that helps.

Forgot to mention...the DS is great. I bought one a few weeks ago since they had a lmtd ed. color I wanted. I have Crosswords and play it all the time since it has a wordsearch in it and that's one of my favorites. i also bought Are you smarter then a fifth grader and enjoy the questions on there. Brain Age 2 is my favorite because i played that one a bunch before i tried Brain Age. I also have My Spanish Coach which challenges me to remember high school spanish. There are tons of games and every Tuesday we get new ones. I know that Left Brain/Right Brain 2 just came out this week but that's the only one I remember seeing. It's a great travel game and everyone can play it.

  3. Thanks for starting the topic ELS...I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a ticket...but I'm not sure who lives near me and is also thinking of/is going so we could carpool. I live in the Quad Cities. Am willing to drive, would be happier to go with another person.

  4. I tried something at a friends house by her recommendation, and it was one of those Homedics massage things that you set on a chair...and it had a massager and heater in it. The chair it was on was one that you could tilt back like a laz-e-boy recliner. I started off with the massage part everywhere but the highest part of my back/neck and had the heat on. I also had a cold wet washcloth on my eyes/forehead and took my meds and I felt better quicker then I normally do. I need to buy one of those things. The vibration sounds different as it goes up and down, I had it set on where it went back and forth instead of steady everywhere...and the sounds were calming, and I got into listening to the rhythm and I stopped thinking about my head hurting as much...oh and the room was dark. Maybe you can try that?

  5. I am far too introverted to share such personal information with an entire message board, but I will say that I am as awesome as llynn. :yes

Also, you people really need to do something about your messed-up cd collections! :o They should be alphabetized, chronological, and right-side up. It's also a very good thing if you label the spines of any homemade discs in slimline cases using teeny tiny writing with a sharpie. Get crackin'! :thumbup

You crack me up Kidsmoke!! Glad to see you posting :)

It bothers me when a commercial disc has the text on the spine going the wrong direction. What the hell are those people thinking?!!? :realmad

What if you popped the jewel case open and unattached that end and then turned it so it was in there the right way. Most of those jewel case papers are perforated...wouldn't that fix your problem?

  6. I'm still keen on reading any of the Jodi Picoult books...they are a challenge to your thoughts on situations that you could find yourself in and not know how you'd deal with it til that moment...I know Kidsmoke will agree...

I am still enjoying The Devil in the White City...I have had issues with a crazy work schedule but I'm hoping to finish it really soon!

  7. i'll try not to eat it.

so I added the suggested apps plus Hangman and Sudoku. I worked on my contacts, had issues pulling it in from Outlook so ended up typing all the numbers in after outlook only sent the names across.

  8. What is Pandora? I've heard of it but don't know how it's used. I use MSN, AIM and Skype. I was hoping to find Skype but didn't. Thanks for the tips on the zooming I'll try that :) I haven't taken any photos yet, only turned on the camera in the store and haven't since I came home.

  9. Thanks

Been sitting here and trying to learn to use it.

Just remembered you can turn it sideways to see the screen better...and accidentally zoomed in but not sure how I did it!

Just added Facebook and Twitter apps..trying to figure out other ones to add.

    Thanks for the tip!

  10. I just got mine tonight :) 8 gb after they decided to 'lift the ban' on not allowing employees buy them within the first 30 days we carried them...WOO HOO....i am waiting on my phone number to change over to the iPhone..it's still on my other phone.

Anyone have any tips for me?

  11. Just had surgery the other day and it was a trip, not like last surgery I had about 25 years ago to remove tonsils. I was in by 6am and out by high noon. I was put under, the Doc cut my neck open, removed a growth (lovely), glued me up, and sent me home. Glue! Not stitches, but glue! And then percocet, which I only needed for one day. Within 24 hours, back to "normal". I was amazed at the process, sort of like being on a conveyor belt moving from waiting room, to prep room, to discharge, etc. and probably most significant factor throughout was hearing from every nurse and health care person, "Oh, your doctor is one of the best in the country if not the world"! Faith in my savior... I know not all surgeries turn out so well but was a truly unique, unusual experience so got me wondering about surgery as a strange kind of modern religious experience. Maybe it's just me....

I had surgery on my neck a few years ago from a benign tumor on my right side. The doctor did it in his office with me being awake the whole time...course my neck wasn't cut open largely....but I have a cool scar :) Was yours a bad growth? I was stitched up and the doctor joked with me that he was going to put his initials on my neck!

  12. Ok I misread so I have part 1 done..but I'm reading as much as possible daily to try to catch up..plus this is an interesting book so it's not too hard.

    1. No I find the historical parts of this book to be quite interesting and I like that he quotes things that were documented. I'm still trying to figure out where he got some quotes from...anyone know what Ibid means? I like that he weaves the story with as much history as possible but gets into their heads to tell the stories. It's easier to follow and it makes it not seem so dry.

    2. No not to keep them interesting as well as allowing you to really see the full story at once. I imagine if I had to read 2 books about each character it would not be as easy for me to go back and forth between the characters within the timeline. I am learning a lot about the Fair as well so reading about the architecture as well as another story that was going on at the same time is intriguing and it allows me to look forward to what is going on 'on the other side of town' or with a different person.

    3. I agree, because it makes me feel like I need to find post it notes and attempt to keep track of those things.

I have to admit though that a few times I wish there was a time line with dates alongside it for critical moments such as the various activities of the architecture as well as the length of time it took for them to decide on a location for the fair.
