  1. Shit, skipped this to see Amy Milan and the Bahamas guy. Too many entertainment options...

(although I talked to Ron Sexsmith for a while and got to marvel over Darcy Yates and Christine Bougie's playing. We even got a Leslie Feist guest appearance)

Guess I'll have to catch up with Wilco on the frozen tundra tour.

If FEIST is in town i reckon she will stop in tonight to sing on you and i

  2. I'm looking for a good set list from this past summer that includes tunes from WTA and an overall great set list and a recording that has the best quality...

I just thought I'd ask which show or recording to download instead of just taking a chance.

    Any ones come to mind?

    Thanks!

  3. The meat of the matter is that im going to this show. I'm going alone, so I only need one ticket. I will pay whatever price to whomever to get a sweet ticket in the front floor.

So whether it's through this site, ebay, scalper, massey hall or whatever, im getting a ticket.

  4. I've hated this song from the June 2004 release date. I try to get into it every few months but I always end up loathing it. I hate it for the lack of melody, unecessary length, amateur breakdown that sea to phone it in with barchords. Electronically beat with guitar noise. This song has no appeal to me. I like thier experimental stuff. I love bull black nova, I love the noise on via Chicago but this has nothing special and is a seizure enducing glorified 10 min click track.

Wilco is my fav band. I love everything else from them but this song. But I always see so many people loving on this song.

Help me see the appeal. What do you like about it?

  5. I picked up the disc on Tuesday of last week and it's been played a half dozen times a day since, I'm trying to slow it down a bit to make it last... it's a short record. Hopefully the vinyl will make all things new again when it comes.

    Anyway, here are some thoughts

Wilco (the Song) - I have been getting tired of this song fast. I actually am now starting the album at Deeper Down, because this is like a novelty song. Still a good tune, but a bit annoying after a while.

Deeper Down - My favorite way is the loud noise at the beginning that starts this song. I love this subtle song a lot, a great way to start the album too.. clears your pallet.

One Wing - One of my favorite Wilco tunes and one of the best on the album. Melodies are so beautiful and it really harkens back to the sound of SBS, which I loved.

Bull Black Nova - Actually the song I liked the least when I first took a one listen to the leak in May, now this face-melter of a song has become in my top 3 of the album, I look forward to hearing it

You And I - A nice enough tune, if I had to compare it to "Sky Blue Sky" as the equivilent position on SBS, then I muchly prefer Sky Blue Sky song. This tune is pretty and all, but it lacks edge that makes you want to hear it a year from now.. It's one saving grace is that it fits nicely to the ears after BBN...

You Never Know - The best song of the year so far. I know it's not edgy enough for YHF/BT fans, but I love the pop element of the tune, the electric parts are so goosebump like, and it's a perfect summer song. Love the original melodies too.

Country Dissappeared - in my top three songs, I love this tune. Excellent vocals, and the percussion is solid as it is in SBS.

Solitare - A nice break from the full band. A grower of a tune. I love this tune, reminds me of "please be patient with me".

Ill Fight - A really great Wilco song.

Sonny Feeling - Still Can't get into this tune, however, I like it because it sounds like old school wilco, this tune could have been on AM or SummerTeeth. So for that reason I like it.

Everlasting - There are good parts to the song, I just wish it were longer. It seems like a multi-part song that doesn't elaborate on one part long enough, this should be a 5 or 6 min song at least.

In conclusion, SBS was my favorite album of 2007 - 2009 so far so W(TA) had huge expectations, and so far the album has lived up to 95% of my expectations.

Looking forward to hearing the vinyl... a lot of you have been saying that it's a whole different sound.

  6. On the contrary opinion to most here. I actually love the sound that wilco has produced in the last half decade. Sbs and this album are perfect records for me. I think impossible Germany is one of the best tunes of the last 10 years. I love these guys and this new album has made for a killer week

  7. after the second day of listening, here's how they rank; best to least

    you never know

    one wing

    country disappeared

    i'll fight

    wilco song

    you and i

    solitaire

    bull black

    deeper down

    everlasting

    sonny feeling

  8. To shine some light on this subject: I just got my two ray lamontagne vinyls of his first two albums. And these were on preorder in October. They sound awesome.

Be patient. Everything will be on vinyl soon.

  9. Yeah I was going to mention that I'm surprised 'germany' is not on the list. I think that's one of the better songs I've heard in the last 26 years.

Also, this survey can't really include WTA cause there's a lot of peeps who haven't heard it yet. And those who have; it takes a while to get a love for a song.

  10. the night of... i did one full listen on good headphones and that's it.

now i wait, knowing that it's an exciting June approaching.

as each day passes I forget more and more about the album...

i know the second song had a cool structure and that one wing was a standout

and i know that i smiled and tapped my feet a lot to "you never know".

and i know that the last song at the end was really cool

    can't wait.

  11. Green Day I'll accept as anticipated, and maybe U2, but Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective? Are you kidding me? You do realize that these two bands still have such a niche following, right? Whether you like him or not, Eminem has way more fans and hype than GB and AC, it's just not as present on message boards.

okay i agree, the last two don't count...

    but i've thought of more...

    Bob Dylan

    Black Eyed Peas

    Jonas Bros (hahaha)

    Kelly Clarkson

edit: And that rock(ish) album from the black rapper who talks like a machine
