  1. why was my post deleted?

I just asked if anyone knew where the loft was?

I'm not asking for an address. Please you can google Taylor Swifts house. The loft is not the only place that has expensive equipment in it. Ie. Hospitals and Music stores... and banks...

I just wanted to know if anyone actually knows where it is.

On a separate note it was pretty cool on the Coldplay board when some fans found the "Bakery" where they recorded their last album.

Behind the scenes stuff is cool.

  2. You'll never be able to figure out what kotche does. That guy has some amazing mysterious techniques. He's probably hitting the cymbal with a baby's heel.

I've been trying to get the electric full sound of the opening bars of "either way".

One of the reasons I love wilco is because of the loft and the warm rich analogue sound they get on their records. The production of SBS is my fav production sound of any record.

  3. It so far sounds like wta was done on tape but I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of the ambient and effects were done in protools after initial tracking to tape.

From the sounds of it acoustic and drums were definetly done on tape. It depends on what tracking tools they had in new Zealand. I could be able to tell more when I get the vinyl.

    I'd love to know more.

In fact it would be sweet if they did a mini making of video or collectors edition cd.

  4. I'd bet ( unless they are trying to save cash) that they will still put it on two lps. "prairie wind " from neil is ten songs and is on 2 lps.

It depnds on how much the band appreciates good vinyl sound. And considering jeff said that sbs was meant to be heard on vinyl and that they record everything to tape.

  5. This is one of my most highly anticipated releases of my life.

I am so suprised that we have heard not 1 second of a clip and no indication of the art concept of the album or anything.

    I need something.

  6. hey, i got the same thing 28mins later... it was pretty bad seats which promises to be not that great of a venue...

so I will pass on lewiston, even though it is really close...

I'll just hope they come to Toronto, or even better, THE HAMMER!

  7. i was shopping for tickets to lewiston... but i deceided against it because it looks like a shitty venue... and my presale seats weren't that good.

so i will wait and hope they come to Toronto... or I'll grab some GA tickets the day or two before...

  8. Hey,

I will be going to the Lewiston, NY show! I will be buying 2 tickets and I want to get the best seats possible. I hope that it is not general admission. Does anyone have any info on the venue? Good place?

Also, I am from Southern Ontario, so this is the closest show for me, and if they announce any Ontario gigs in the near future - I will also go to one of them! I'd love it if they hit up Massey Hall again - but unlikely.

  9. my question/desire would be to have them release a companion disc to SBS. Not necessarily a b-sides record, but take the songs that didn't make the cut (undoubtably at least 12 are lying around) and release a companion disc. It is the mood and production style of this record that I love. I wish there were a sequel to keep the magic going... I guess there were 2 awesome b-sides that come to mind (true vine, thanks i get, and then that rocky one, carried away?)

    anyway, id really love that...

OR A SBS LIVE CD/DVD/DOCUMENTARY!!! PLEASE!!!

  10. great to see this topic... here is my story

i got my new car last year and then got the new wilco...

i played that thing in the car over and over, and I would just go out in my car for drives because the car was new and I would listen to SBS with the windows and sun roof open...

so last night, I had the same thing over again, I got my car detailed and it seemed like it was new again, so I listened to SBS in it.

Not to mention, I have listened to SBS once a week since last may. It was easily my favorite album of the year.

Now, I ve always had YHF as my top album of all time for all music. But I realized last night that SBS could possibly take it's place. It's such a soulful album. I love the guitar solos. I love the production style the best.

    wow.
