  1. The last few times it was STARWARS. It's probably the same this time.

There's no Live Nation or promoter pre-sale for the Fillmore shows. I'm a little freaked out by having only one more chance and needing tickets for all five nights!

Thank You!!! First time I've been shut out for Seattle in well over a decade :(

  2. Shut out of both Seattle shows, presale link now directs to Ticketmaster (available Friday). Guess I'll try again on Friday.

    WORST presale experience so far.

  3. I was in the front, directly in line with Jeff, so here's what happened with the up-front crowd:

    - Woman to my right was taking flash photos with her phone, after the song, he told her the flash was killing him (or something like that), and she apologized.

    - The Brazilians were to my left, there were about 5-7 of them. They had a great time! They recorded a lot of the show, but I don't have much (if any) peripheral vision, so I wasn't bothered by it (but it may have bothered people behind them).

Overall, a great show for me, since I was up front and among die-hard fans. One benefit to being in the front at Marymoor (or any "series" concert) is that all of the people who don't know/care about Wilco weren't near me. I've been to outdoor shows before that have been ruined by people drinking too much, talking too loud, skipping huge chunks of the show, etc.

Oh, and Jenny Lewis was fantastic!

  4. I logged in early and refreshed like crazy for the Seattle show. When the show tix opened, in the ~10 seconds it took me to select 2 tix and enter the captcha, it said "no seats available" - then "presale ended". All before 10:01am.

However, thanks to Tomauto saying they opened up tix, I tried again at 10:30ish and got 2 tix.

    Wilco presales always suck.

  5. "Being a Scientologist, when you drive past an accident it's not like anyone else... as you drive past, you know you have to do something about it you because you know you're the only one who can really help."

Really? Scientologists can help accident victims but no one else can? With what, Tom Cruise's ego?

I guess EMTs, paramedics, doctors, etc. should all look for a new profession :lol

  6. We have the Garmin Nuvi 350, got it back in July 07 so have been using it for about 6 months. The nicest feature is the voice directions, as it's really difficult (and dangerous) to look at the screen when you're driving. I wouldn't get a GPS that didn't have the voice directions.

  7. Well except the fact that you can go to a Blockbuster store and get free rentals, they both rent dvds online in the same fashion. Just wondering why a person would need subs to both companies. Why not increase the number of rentals at one place? What am I missing?

I have a one-month free trial subscription to Blockbuster, and a regular membership to Netflix. I signed up for the free trial so we wouldn't run out of movies over the holidays. Plan to cancel when it's up as I prefer Netflix.

  8. Paramount & Dreamworks remain HD I believe, Wal-Mart announced awhile back that they would favor HD DVD, but with Apple announcing at Macworld that they will have blu-ray players in their computers, that puts alot of folks in the blu-ray camp. Blockbuster only has Blu_ray, I dont know what netflix offers.

Blockbuster Online (the mail service) has both HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Netflix has both formats too. (I have subscriptions to both.)

  9. just an fyi - dont trust that "check your area" feature on their website, apprently it's not working correctly, it told me I couldn't get it but I really can. I like the interface a lot i went to the AT&T store and they have the demo kicking in there

I'll check it out, and Verizon FiOS too. I have high-speed internet access reimbursed by my company, but not the TV portion of my cable bill, and it's about to jump up in price after a promotion package. I'd be interested in what they have in HD that isn't compressed to hell, but I haven't heard from anyone in the Seattle area that either of these options are available yet in my neighborhood. I'll have to do some investigating...

  10. I still can't believe I don't have HBO and will have to wait until 2010 (or thereabouts) to see the new season.

You're not alone - we don't have HBO or Showtime, so we have big gaps between watching shows like The Wire, The Sopranos, Weeds, etc. after a week of watching an entire season. I always have to catch up with the season recap because it's been so long... but not worth it to pay the extra for the premium channels.

One big disappointment with The Wire was the 4:3 aspect ratio -- HBO didn't air it in widescreen? Or did they just not bother to make a decent DVD? Does HBO HD not air it in HD?

  11. sofitel seemed depressing to me, despite the tripadvisor stuff which I have looked at already.

and tripadvisor have proven to be extremely misleading in the past for me

You're right, the Sofitel is depressing, but what do you expect for $250/night? Just get a suite at the Peninsula. I wouldn't recommend a "superior room" as they are only slightly nicer than the Sofitel, but the suites will do in a pinch.
