  1. Oh hell yes!

Another question, though - I just noticed that my ticket receipt says "GA2". What does that mean?

(edit - I just tried the KBCO presale, and the GA is listed as both rows 2-24 and 61-69, I'm guessing first come, first served, you can sit in either section. So I think "GA2" might just refer to price level 2 or something)

  2. yeah... def not a killer lineup this year by any means, but I might still go, we'll see.

thinking ACL will be a sick lineup

My thoughts exactly. I'll be going because I live here and got the $60 tickets, but I wouldn't travel for it. Headliners are so-so, and the middle tier doesn't make up for that; it's the same middle tier as every other festival this summer.

And I agree that whatever money C3 "saved" on the Lolla lineup will hopefully be "spent" on ACL.

  3. So who's in?

Also, any idea how they're going to do the ticketing for this one? The info page on Wilcoworld isn't particularly helpful, and the Red Rocks site doesn't have it listed yet. I know that Red Rocks sometimes has alternating GA/assigned seating sections, and I'm wondering if the front rows will be GA this time.

  4. But you didn't see him on his solo tour last year, right?

I think he's an extremely compelling performer, and his musicianship has come along light years, especially in terms of his guitar playing - he's never been a particularly proficient guitarist, but I thought he did himself proud. And I love a well-chosen cover, so I don't mind that at all, especially next to some of the brilliant stuff from Into the Wild.

  5. Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I saw three of the solo shows last summer, and they were fantastic (though the Milwaukee show was a bit rough because of a drunken rowdy crowd). I agree that it's pricey, and I won't be going out of my way to catch this tour, but I'm definitely glad I saw him last time around.

  6. I read somewhere recently (Oh yea, off bt etree) that Simone Felice had

left the band to do another project. Does anyone know the truth?

He is a great showman as well drummer.

last week's myspace bulletin from Simone:

    April 3, 2009 - Friday

An open letter from Simone Felice

Dear Friends and Family, this is just a little note to show my deepest gratitude for all the letters and concern I've received over my absence from The Felice Brothers stage over the past few months, and for the boundless love and belief you've shown for our music over the years.

This winter has been a time of tragedy, sadness, and regeneration in my life. I'd been working on a new book and recording some songs with my dear old friend Robert close to home in the Catskill Mountains and my long time love and I were expecting our first child. Then in late January out of the blue we lost our baby girl and it really broke my heart and turned my world inside out. In the process of mourning it helped a lot to turn some of the sorrow and revelation into songs and after a while I came back to Robert and I's cabin/studio to put them down and to finish the other recordings we started.

I've been writing a lot this past year, and seeing as my role in the band was always more of a supportive one (helping with lyrics, drumming, harmonies and the occasional lead vocal) I've been compelled to find a vehicle that would help me be able to share all these new songs and stories. So I hope you like The Duke & The King, the songs mean a lot to us, being as they are, after all, the soundtrack of a long fateful winter. We'll be playing a handful of debut shows come spring, and I'll be working on finishing the novel and spending more time close to home. The boys have a couple great drummers working with them now (chief among them our close friend Jeremy 'The Searcher' who's produced all our records and was one of my most important drum teachers in the long ago, and Dave, an awesome young hitter who I've had the privilege of working with this spring to pass on some of the stank codes of our tradition), and they all have a very strong and dynamite vision of how to carry the music and poetry we've all made together into the future. I'll be making special appearances at Felice shows from time to time to share the stage with my brothers as they support 'Yonder Is The Clock' (our proudest effort to date) and beyond, something I look forward to with an earnest and warm heart.

It's very nice that I can be candid in sharing these heavy life changes with you guys, though the comfort I feel in doing so is no surprise considering how loving and supportive you've been in helping us build this big old crazy family together, a family as sacred as it is rowdy! Please know that it really is you all who've made this never-ending story of ours possible, and that this knowledge has never and will never be lost on me.

All my love and a thousand thanks always, Simone.

  7. Night 1 was amazing. I didn't think the crowd was noisy at all, and I'd even forgotten my earplugs, which usually bring crowd chatter down to a tolerable level :lol The band was playing fast and loose and clearly having a great time; Jeff and Pat were especially hilarious. LOVED, loved loved the setlist, the new songs with full band, and frankly one of the best versions of "Theologians" I've ever heard.

  8. My only disappointment was the number of repeated songs from the night before. C'mon guys, you have a huge catalogue, why even repeat a single song, much less the majority of the night before?

I agree. The extent of the overlap between Night 1 and Night 2 was really surprising.

To me, it sounded like the band was playing a "safer" set the second night. It seemed as if they were really concentrating on making it a technically clean performance, maybe because they knew it was being webcast?

  9. Two tickets for the Friday, April 10 Andrew Bird show at the Civic Opera House. Seats are main floor, right center, row D (third row!) on the center aisle.

Face value, which is $90 for the pair.

(shoot...is this Wilco-related enough? Mods, feel free to delete if it isn't...don't mean to step on any toes).
