  1. In light of this honesty..

In grade school I got a bad case of poison ivy, and to treat it I used a steroid. Although it was prescribed by a Dr. I should have removed myself from all kickball and games of 4-square, but I didn't.

    I apologize

  2. for my money this is the best song lyrical Tweedy has ever written

    She's a Jar

    She's a jar

    With a heavy lid

    My pop quiz kid

    A sleepy kisser

    A pretty war

    With feelings hid

She begs me not to miss her

    She says forever

    To light a fuse

    We could use

    A handful of wheel

    And a day off

    And a bruised road

    However, you might feel

    Tonight is real

When I forget how to talk, I sing

    Won't you please

    Bring that flash to shine

    And turn my eyes red

    Unless they close

    When you click

    And my face gets sick

    Stuck, like a question unposed

    Just climb aboard

The tracks of a train's arm

    In my fragile family tree

And watch me floating inches above

    The people underneath

Please beware the quiet front yard

    I warned you

    Before there were water skies

I warned you not to drive

Dry your eyes, you poor devil

Are there really ones like these?

    The ones I dream

    Float like leaves

And freeze to spread skeleton wings

I passed through before I knew you

    I believe it's just because

    Daddy's payday is not enough

Oh I believe it's all because

    Daddy's payday is not enough

    Just climb aboard

The tracks of a train's arm

    In my fragile family tree

And watch me floating inches above

    The people underneath

    She's a jar

    With a heavy lid

    My pop quiz kid

    A sleepy kisser

    A pretty war

    With feelings hid

    You know she begs me

    Not to hit her

  3. I got my wife and I floor tixs for this tour in Bloomington on Oct 19th. She's never been much of a Dylan fan, but she went with the name Dylan for our son in June so she thought it was time to see him. I figure Jack White ain't got shit to do for awhile, perhaps he can tag along for awhile, he can crash at our place need be :)

And if Bob is breaking out songs he hasn't played.... save Black Diamond Bay for Bloomington

  4. I don't know that one, but I keep seeing some Volvo ad that I believe has Stephin Merritt (Magnetic Fields) doing "The Wheels on the Car." It seems like everyone's doing car ads these days.

There is a cat food comercial that uses a Magnetic Fields song too, I believe, "I think I need a New Heart"

the one that threw me the most was hearing Malkmus (Phantasies) being used for some sort of Washer and Dryer sale at Sears a few years ago.

self titled debut album. great music and a great story

Ha. I smoked a j with him during one of the 2000 Prez debates at his house in Saginaw. A buddy of mine had been recording with him and he asked me if I wanted to hang out with Robert one night. I'd seen RBBS open up for someone else back in 96 and loved the 1st record. so I jumped at the chance. We get to his house and altough blind he was recording the debate between Bush and Gore on tv. He told me he taped it because he wanted to listen to it later before he voted. Anyway we smoked a bit, and he played the piano for awhile and sang some of his at the time newer songs. Good times

  6. Not that I am for drinking and driving, but......

Bill Murray Arrested for Drunk Driving in a Golf Cart

Hollywood star Bill Murray has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in a golf cart in the Swedish capital Stockholm. The actor was stopped by police in the early hours of Sunday and alcohol was smelled on his breath, according Stockholm police detective inspector Christer Holmlund. Holmlund says, "He refused to blow in the (breath test) instrument, citing American legislation. So we applied the old method - a blood test. It will take 14 days before the results are in." Murray - who is in the city attending a golf tournament - signed a document admitting driving under the influence and permitted a police officer to enter a guilty plea on his behalf if the case goes to court. The 56-year-old will only be charged if his blood alcohol level is higher than the legal limit. If it is excessively high he could face a prison sentence - but a fine is more likely. Holmlund adds, "There were no obvious signs, like when someone is really tipsy." The officer claims mystery surrounds the golf cart and who owns it - although Murray isn't facing theft charges: "It was a golf cart. How it ended up in this predicament I don't know. I have done this since 1968 and I've never experienced anything like this."

  7. cryptique said it better than I did. I guess my surprise has more to do with the fact that so many athletes beat the shit out of their wives/girflriends or father illegitimate kids, etc. that its interesting to see people rally around the cause when it comes to mistreating animals.

Like I said, if he did it, Vick deserves a special place in hell. Next to the place with the guys who beat their wives. But you don't see the same level of scrutiny on those guys. Just weird.

I'll try to answer this, I think it has to do with the helplessness of an animal. I know an abused wife/girfriend is a complex issue, but I think at the heart of it people might feel that at least they are free to leave. An animal of course has no such option. At the same level I think that's why abuse against children would be treated more serious than against another adult, again because of the helplessness

  8. Wow, that could go down as like the greatest move ever.

We also got Tim Dwight and a couple of draft picks out of it as well.

Trading Eli's rights to the Giants for Phillip Rivers, and draft picks which included Merriman is another great one

If Ryan Leaf had any value it was getting the Chargers to trade #1 pick QB's and getting a hell of a lot out of it

  9. On my first listen at least, this is exactly how I feel. The songs simply seem underwritten, though his voice sounds great. I, too, find it surprising that this is getting strong reviews and CR got mixed ones.

I do like the new one a lot, but I agree on Cold Roses, it blows my mind that the reviews were not better
