  1. Heard a rumor the alt version of Art of Almost is working its way around the internet. Anyone hear this? Supposed to be completely different, and was rumored to be the original genesis of the song until the version on TWL was reworked. I refuse to look, as I know some day a boxed set of authorized work will come out and everytime I hear Summerteeth I hear the bootleg version and it throws me off.

I have the "Speak into the Rose" 10" and the alt version of Art of Almost is on there. Definitely not "completely different". I wonder if there's another version floating around.

  2. MMJ are my favorite band. That being said, I think the Whole Love is far and away a better album than Circuital, and Circuital is obviously (to me) better than Evil Urges. I rarely get the urge to listen to EU anymore, but still regularly listen to certain tracks off Circuital (live versions, at least).

  3. Sorry to bump such an old thread.

I've purchased the "I Might" single, TWL on vinyl, and SITR 10". I'm a completist (and I love this album's artwork) so I'm thinking about purchasing the deluxe version of the CD. Could someone fill me in about that "52 page booklet" that comes with it?

  4. Yes, it is possible to succeed as a small market team. However, if you want to be a perennial contender (Angels, Red Sox, Yankees are probably the best examples right now, but also Cardinals a few years ago and the Braves before that), then you probably need to spend money. Spending money does not guarantee success and not spending much does not guarantee failure. Basically, anything a small market team can do personnel wise (draft and scout well), a big market team can do too. There are some things (signing premium free agents, extending players with big contracts, taking on big contracts via trade) that big market teams can do and small market teams can't or won't. Sometimes the big market teams do not parlay these advantages into on the field success.

At the same time, there are some small market teams that seem to underspend and cheat the fans.

Perfect example of both would be the Florida Marlins.

2 rings already, but refuse to spend money to bring in free agents. And don't get me started on that stadium situation.

  5. I waited in line outside the Bell Centre for a half hour before they opened the doors and let people enter . Then once inside we got green colored bracelets and I made a mad dash onto the floor.People already were up at the stage and I managed to get 15 feet from the stage . I was not dead center but left of center. Still I can't complain because I'm 6"1 and the people in front of me posed no problem. Once there I never moved because the floor really filled up . So I was on my feet for over 5hrs and it was tiring to say the least but well worth being that close up.

what time did you get in line? I'm trying to figure out when I should arrive to the venue for the Phila. show.

  6. I'm coming to town in the afternoon, but since we have seats, we won't be showing up too early. I'm so glad we decided to get seats. I'm recovering from an ankle sprain and am still on crutches, so GA wouldn't be possible.

I hate that the sports complex is a vast wasteland in terms of bars and restaurants. We're staying near the airport, but we may have to go more into the city to find a place to eat. Suggestions are welcome!

McFadden's at Citizens Bank Park is right across the street and a good place to grab a burger and a beer.

  7. It's not a reminder because some people don't know or forgot. It's a reminder to get up off your butt and go vote like you swore you would for the last 6 months. It's a kick in the pants, dude.

If you really care and did your research you shouldn't need that kick in the pants. Shouldn't the economy/war/housing market/etc be a kick in the pants enough?

  8. Does anyone have recommendations for places to stay while in town, whether in the city or the surrounding areas? Thanks!

Stadium Holiday Inn is right across the street from the venue. Nothing to do in that area of the city though except all the stadiums, oh and strip clubs. The Loews hotel downtown is very nice, and there's plenty to do there. Theres a couple of places on the waterfront that are nice too, the Hyatt Regency I think it is.

  9. I did GA for U2's last tour in Buffalo in December. I showed up at maybe 9:30 in the morning with two pairs of long underwear and those hand warmers that hunters put in their gloves and boots (which you can get at outdoor/sporting goods stores). Thankfully they opened the lobby and let us wait inside, but there were plenty of people already there ahead of me. I'm not sure if this show will attract that same diehard crowd, but we decided to buy seats because I knew I won't be able to get down there until a little later in the day, and we didn't want to be stuck in the back.

Crazy. My last finals for the semester are the day before, thankfully. I better pack some gloves.

I've spoiled myself so bad this year its not even funny. I've seen My Morning Jacket 4 times this year, 3 times from the front row. I also saw Wilco from the front row at Delaware.

  10. GA floor is exactly that... general admission. I don't know what's so confusing about that. I'm assuming the 200-some dollar expensive seats are those on either side of the stage in the first level.
