It was a great show, wasn't it?? The sound in that room is amazing! I can't wait for the Wilco visit... My girlfriend took a few pics, and she's on this board, so I'm sure she'll be sharing a few once the weekend's over...
We saw Dr. Dog a few months back in North Adams, MA, and will most likely catch the Paradise show in May. Can't wait for the new record!

Bottom line on Phil Collins is simple. He was the drummer and backing singer on 'Supper's Ready'. 'Suppers' Ready' is the most awe-inspiring, spine-tinglingly song that has ever existing. Therefore, don't get rid of Phil Collins. Thanks.
"A FLOWER??"
(how about Phil's vocals on More Fool Me?)

It's a cool pop tune.. I find myself singing it often. I love you love it!

and wait 'til Ellen (Wilco Worshipper) sees this request!

OK... I'm not gonna wish anyone away, because that's just plain arrogance and kind of mean, BUT, I've always thought that there should be one day a year that no radio station in the world would be allowed to play Fleetwood Mac. Imagine that!

but then we wouldn't have the awesome ballad: against all odds. i'm not joking either. i love that song.
Or The Lamb, or Foxtrot, or Selling England By The Pound, etc.... or, by extension, Peter Gabriel! Not a good call in my book!

Lupo's Row A!! Haven't seen a seating chart, but that sure sounds good.

Not a twitterer... but here's my haiku:
Summertime was great
Wilco played the Northeast States
When will they return?

this song is pretty awesome man. the guitar sound is great, reminds me of gary louris
Thanks... Tom (our guitarist) is a real tone freak. I believe he was going for a bit of a Clarence White vibe on this track, but I'll let him know you like his sound.

It's a good day!! Not to bother y'all with my shamelss plugs, but I just got an e-mail that our track "Another Invitation" is being featured at nodepression.com (#1 right now, but I don't know how long they sit there). Either way, yoo-hoo!!

In a timely co-incidence, the Valley Advocate (our local weekly "arts" paper), ran this piece about Merrick Section in the current edition. No lack of Wilco love apparent in the interview...

Excellent!
Thanks for posting all that music, Jim. The song I picked from you was "Mandalay". Hope that's one that you like.
Mandalay works for me... btw, can you think of a reason why the IAC player won't work on my laptop? It's fine on my desktop, but I use the wireless alot more.

Great idea!!! I've posted the entire Merrick Section CD on the site.. looks like an awesome resource, can't wait to really dig deep, and hear all of you guys tunes.

I am LOVING this thread... great fun. What I do for "poor man's copyright" is e-mail the first, rawest demo of a song via hotmail attachment with lyrics and copyright claim as the text. Fully timestamped on a server of public record. Then I forward that e-mail, already sent to myself with timestamp intact, to a handful of friends, family, etc. I'm pretty sure that's a defendable copyright.
Might be wrong, but so far so good!

I saw the Hartford show on Wednesday (and going to the Tweeter Center tomorrow for some more). Springsteen/E Street Band is the greatest rock and roll show EVER!!! Just the energy, the command of the stage, the enthusiasm.. I could wax poetic for hours, but will not bore y'all.
I saw four Wilco shows this Summer, I'm a DIEHARD fan. I listen to Wilco, all the studio and way too many live shows, more than any other band by a long shot, and have for some years now, so please, don't think I'm using this forum to promote other artists... but FUCK!! Springsteen is the master rock and roll showman!
When he opened with "Sherry Darling" the other night, and his face popped up on the jumbotron with the words "Some Summertime Music" (it was HOT!!!!) I shed thirty years of hard living. I was a twenty year old kid again with nothing but promise ahead of me. GREAT, GREAT show; if you have the chance, spend the money and GO!

Kristofor,
Thanks for the directions to Mickey's! We're hitting the road right now!
-
My band (Merrick Section, btw) has a gig at "Mickey's Bar & Grill" in Lowell in about a week. So I'm gonna hit the place up with the obligatory posters/promo discs, etc. Does anyone know where this club is located in relationship to the ballpark?
-
They wore them at Lollapalooza the week before.
I stand corrected!
-
The soundtrack lists Jesus, Etc. as Wilco with Andrew Bird. Although AB was the opening act @ Tanglewood, he did not perform with Wilco at any point. I wonder if they filmed a version for the movie prior to the show. Or possibly at some other show where they did perform together.
hmm
Might also explain why the Nudie suits made their first appearance there...
-
anyone get their pre-sale mail order tix for Lowell or Wappingers Falls yet??
-
Wilco, Son Volt and Jayhawks all on the road this Summer!! Should be a year to remember...
-
i'm waiting till Musical Box does the Congo tour
That's pretty damn funny, yo...
-
I've seen this band twice... Doing the Lamb show and the Selling England tour (white show). Friggin' AMAZING!!! Just to witness a Supper's Ready with full costumes, blocking, etc.. As a lifelong fanatic of that lineup, but never having seen 'em, it was (nearly) a dream come true.

Pretty good... there was one in particular that blew my mind, but I can't recall a title. It's gonna be a different record than Fate, that's for sure.
