  1. Oh and here's another nice show review from Real Groove's Marty Duda: http://www.realgroove.co.nz/Blog.aspx?id=359 REVIEW: Wilco - Tuesday 27 April - Civic Theatre, Auckland Wed, 28 Apr 2010 by Marty Duda Comments [0] We’ve had Wilco (the album) and 'Wilco' (the song), now it’s time for Wilco (the show). Before Jeff Tweedy and company took the stage Tuesday night a pre-recorded voice announced in a robotic tone what was and wasn’t allowed during the concert (OK to record audio, not OK to take photos). The six musicians then manned their instruments and kicked into, what else, 'Wilco (the s
  2. Ah, I've been meaning to post something! It was a great show -- I was in the fourth row so had a fantastic view and I love the Civic, it's a fantastic venue. Nels was on fire -- I saw them last time they were here in 2008 and it's really hard to decide which was the better show, they were both so good. I did get a bit annoyed by the OVER enthusiasm of some fo the crowd, Auckland punters love to yell out "stupid shit" (as Jeff himself put it!) in between songs and frankly, I'm here to hear the band do their thing, y'know? That gripe aside it was a great night that only got better as the night w
  3. I'd love to hear of tappers myself I know they're taping it all for a DVD which I can't wait to get, but not sure how much of the night I went to they'll include. Either way, the album and DVD should be most excellent. I quite liked the new Wilco song they did last nite.
  4. AWESOME night. As a big fan of Wilco, The Smiths and Crowded House (oh, and Radiohead) it was like a dream come true. Fantastic, and Wilco got a big share of the time. I threw a full review up on my blog if anyone's interested: http://spatulaforum.blogspot.com/ Cheers!
  5. Am going tonight! I can't wait! Will post thoughts later!
  6. Everyone's saying that's one of the finest Easter weekends NZ has had in years. I wonder if Wilco hit the beach!
  7. Also, quite a well-done review in the NZ Herald this morning: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1501119/...jectid=10499826
  8. Just in case anyone's interested, I threw a longer review than my blurb above up on my blog: http://spatulaforum.blogspot.com/ Cheers!
  9. I almost went to Coromandel but it's a hell of a trek from Auckland particularly on a holiday weekend, I was so glad to find out they were doing a full show in Auckland proper too.
  10. Also wanted to add Jeff did a great rewrite of "Kingpin" where it became all about NZ (in fact he couldn't shut up about how much he loves it, he offered to marry a guy to emgirate) "I wanna be your kingpin, living in (New Zealand) I wanna be your bigwig, living in (New Zealand)"
  11. Man, what a great time last night. I was in the front row of seats directly in front of Tweedy and they were great - the only other time I'd seen them live was in 2003 opening for R.E.M. so this was a real treat to see their first "real" show in NZ as Jeff called it. And they played two of the songs I most hoped they'd do - "California Stars" and a stunning "Kidsmoke." And while "Shake It Off" was one of my least favorite album tracks the live version was great. Nels is particularly amazing, I'd been hearing so much about him and he didn't disappoint, he's a real MVP on stage. I hope some
