This tragedy is the direct result of a violent radical Islamic philosophy that the current leaders seem unable and unwilling to confront.
Wow. What an oversimplified version of a standpoint that is built on a false premise to begin with.

The fact that we're deporting convicted criminals doesn't change the fact that we're making immigrants scapegoats, nor does it dress the underlying reasons for the crimes (as KevinG rightly states).

Forgive my laziness, but I don't feel like scrolling through 31 pages of a thread i haven't paid attention to...is there any news on the supposed 'f*cked up country record" that's ready to go, and when that might actually be released?
-
I'm happy to see activity on this thread. I've recently re-done my board and should put a picture here, but here's what it is (if I remember correctly as it's not in front of me):
Swollen Pickle>Pog2>Fulltone FD2 > Earthquaker Devices Arpanoid > TU2 > Ditto looper x2 > TR2 > Carbon Copy > Danelectro Reel-echo
The odd placement of certain pedals is due to space constraints. I'm hoping to upgrade the Reel Echo, but will have to wait for the finances to co-operate. At the top of the list is the TC Flashback x4.
My other board, which i use for the alt-country band, is simple: Fuzz face > Timmy > Tuner
And yes, I love the Timmy. I use it as a low-gain overdrive (like a lot of people), but there's actually quite a bit of gain available. The real magic is in the EQ knobs, though. It's flat out a great drive pedal, and when you consider that it's reasonably priced and hand made by genuine straight up decent individual, it begs the question why wouldn't you get one.
Just my 2 cents.

What are the chances the Democrats will (try to) heal their rift by putting up a Clinton/Sanders ticket?

great beer, beautiful women and a lively music scene.
My god, I agree with Hixter on something.

As usual, the rich would pay a tremendous amount, the middle class would pay a hefty amount and the poor would pay little or nothing. And there still wouldn't be enough money.
Yep, those poor underprivileged rich folk

One of my longest friendships is with a guy who started following Maitreya some years back, and he now believes that Sanders is a divine savior, which he calls "the Avatar." Or conversely, and depending on who he's talking to, a Sanders presidency will open some sort of portal that brings forth the Avatar.
Well that's heartening.

Actually, when I think about a Trump presidency, the issue of the courts is one that doesn't bother me that much. In terms of traditional left-right continuum he's not all that extreme (insure as he can be without having a real policy on anything). A Cruz presidency would have been much worse for the courts.
The things that worries me about a Trump presidency are things like "do I really want that man's finger on the button?" and "if the world survives world war three what will this do for the standing and the future of our country in the future?".
That and the simple fact of having a blatantly despicable human being as the leader of the so-called free world...

So it seems that the GOP has realized that it has no other choice but to rally around Trump. I'm afraid it's going to be an astoundingly ugly campaign, as their only path to victory is to make Clinton seem like the absolute worst person on the planet. God help us all survive these next 6 months.
The next 6 months could be wonderful compared to the next 4 years depending on who wins.

I made this prediction here back in March
I was just thinking about this scenario the other day, but in the context of it happening a few weeks before the election. Is addition to the traditional rivalry/animosity between the two teams, there would also be a political element, as the profile of a typical Cubs fan would support Hillary, with the Sox fans getting behind trump (well, except maybe the African Americans among them). So yeah, I could totally see the bad stars coming into perfect alignment and the city burning to the ground.

When Wilco was a young man he slept with lots of different women, and it was exciting.
But then Wilco grew up, and decided he should only sleep with one woman. The first time he did that, it was exciting too. And after he'd been sleeping with her a while, he grew to appreciate the pleasures of monogamy. There was, however, a brief period before he'd developed that appreciation, but after he'd given up his wanton youthful promiscuity, where monogamy was just routine and boring. That brief period is known as Wilco (the Album).

So how many of our VC brothers and sisters outside of the US are watching this thing play out and scared to death by the prospect of Trump?
At least one. I'm an American citizen, and hopefully I will be voting for Bernie in November. If not, then HRC.
If I had voted in the primary in the state I'm registered (Michigan) I would have voted for Kasich. The prospect of either a Trump or Cruz presidency scares the $#!t out of me.

I guess if Cruz is elected president Dearborn MI is on notice.
On a recent trip to Morocco with my son we were stopped in the souks by a local guy who at first we thought was just another guy doing the hard sell. It turns out he was more interested in the music patches on my son's backpack and so we got to talking, and it turned out he was a Moroccan-American actually born in Detroit (same place I was) but had moved back to the old country. We chatted for a while, mostly about music but touched on politics as well, and he was upset about the xenophobic anti-muslim trends. He was looking at the possibility of not being allowed back to the land of his birth, where most of his family still lived.
I don't really have a point to make here, just expressing regret that this hatred the @$$holes stir up actually has an effect on the lives of real people.

I'm still amused that Kanye blowing coke out of Kardashian's bosom and improper seat belt usage are invoked in pro-gun arguments by the same people that also claim that the real problem is mental health.
Mirrors before guns, I say.
Oh, and by the way, if everyone would shut up about Drumpf he would eventually go away. So shut up about him, and start talking about the serious candidates and the issues they discuss.

I get jacked up to buckle up anyway. But just after I've just snorted a fat line outa Kim's cleavage, man I better be buckled down. I mean up. Where's my gun anyway?
-
Of course I thought Bush was a bad and dangerous candidate and he got elected 2x.
And you were correct to think that he was bad and dangerous.

My brother's boyfriend doesn't.
Thanks for the razor sharp riposte and refutation of the arguments laid out above.

ML kind of slipped by me when I wasn't paying attention. I'll have to go back and check it out. Good news about a new one too!

Thanks for the supportive "Ouch (out loud)". Oddly though, when that whole ship went down, I was quite calm & clear about it. It hurt & was bittersweet, but I knew it was the right thing at the right time. And, as you noted it was a very, very happy ending...
Right on, Mother Universe!

Ouch (out loud).
But it sounds like there was a happy ending, so, that's good.

In high school I bought a 65 (?) fender twin black face. After moving across the pond it sat for years at my parents, condition deteriorating. finally i traded it for a guitar. i miss that thing, but i hope someone is getting good use out of it. it sure sounded wonderful.

Olson says he wants nothing to do with Louris.
Yeah, I remember hearing that too. I wonder what the story is there.
