My friend works for the memphis in may organization, and he says they've pretty much locked up the band for beale street music fest this year, at the end of april

I'm 19 and have been collecting records for about a year. My parents sold or threw all theirs out about the time I was born, but I've been scrounging around town & bought all the Wilco reissues. Oddly enough my next door neighbor at college is a year older than me, and he has a huge collection ranging from Moby Grape to Beach House.
Anyway, I just don't see too many people my age having the patience to deal with vinyl. It may be a fad now, but for many young people it's just that, a fad or hobby that they'll lose interest in. I will say that when I know a new record comes with a digital download, I'm more apt to buy the vinyl copy and not just the cheaper itunes download.

I'm trying to figure out what that means. Are they downgrading Neon Bible to make The Suburbs look better? Did Neon Bible just not age well? Do they just have amnesia? I guess it stands out to me because I happen to be one of the few who prefers Neon Bible to the other two albums.
I too am in that same boat, despite being berated by friends. I've enjoyed Funeral, Neon Bible, and the new one so far. Time will tell how they all pan out I suppose.

Never would have guessed there would be Philip Glass in this thread. That is awesome.

That would explain things also, but it's not like this was a Nashville Skyline-ish change

I've found that his voice has changed a bit since YHF (obviously since Uncle Tupelo), partly due to quitting smoking. Though sometimes I feel he actually sings more now as opposed to almost just 'talking' the lyrics.

I'm a relatively young guy from Memphis, and I didn't know that about Beale. Thanks for the history lesson rowboat. (Oh yeah, I'm going to the show too)
