  1. I was on the guitar wizard's side.  We had a great vibe over there! I'm not a fan of the cookie cutter setlist either however I managed to pretty much avoid looking at any recent set lists so I could be somewhat surprised with the songs.   I thought the real treat was the long hootenanny set.  New Madrid wasn't played right? am I trippin? I thought they played We've Been Had there...anyways the encore just felt like it kept coming.  I thought it was over a couple of times then Matrix would walk up with another Gibson or Martin! Also another highlight for me was the fact I hadn't seen any of Star Wars live yet and I just love RNG.  It just gets groovin!  I had such a blast!  Euclid earlier in the day was pretty awesome then I got to see a lot of friends and my entire family was in attendance so for me it was a fantastic evening all together.  A fabulous evening at the fabulous fox!
Pretty sure I saw the thumbs up to you Vince! Wish we could have bumped into each other!  I agree William Tyler was awesome.  Darin sounded great with him!
I'll be in Chicago with my new Wilco Trucker hat I got!  which my gal has already remarked that I haven't taken it off since the encore :guitar  :banana

  2. this sounds like its played on open tuned guitar in G.

I have been playing around with it on acoustic in standard tuning though just strumming power chords.

Its pretty much G (strum bottom strings then top string to create that 1 2 effect)

Also you can slide up on the bass E string From F >G  1>3  to create that slide effect that is created when playing in open tuning.

    then it goes to C

Then its D   C  Bb  with open A string on end  back to G

just a start but fun to play with and hope it starts to flush the rest of the song out!

  3. Verse

    G  C  Am  (Am7)

Em  (Em w/ open D string so just one finger down on A string)  C  Am  (Am7)

    Bridge

G  Em?(not sure bout this one)  C maybe a quit Am7 on end too

The chorus more ending I'm positive on but sounds like

"I don't know won't you come and show me..."

    G   C or Am

Fun song that works well on acoustic once you get the kind of choppy strumming pattern down!

please submit any recommendations or suggestions I feel like some chords are off or could be improved too!

  4. yes!  on glenn's bass drum.  lol

was at the show last night, i thought it was spectacular.  amazing band live.  i signed up for this site because of that show.

Welcome Giovanni!  This forum is fantastic.  I have met some really incredible people in the past few months from just speaking up and introducing myself... so get chatting! :ike   much to talk about as of late!  Glad you got to hear the new album last night. :guitar

  5. Whose idea was it to play a recording of EKG? Would have loved to see them actually jam out for a minute and a half before More...

I wondering if this was one they couldn't get figured out in time.   In the XRT interview before the show he discussed how they had played every Tweedy song on the road except one (which I believe to be "I'll Sing It")  he said "we couldn't ever really quite get it figured out."   So maybe a similar situation?

  6. im having the same problem with rewind is there a solution other than the dime a dozen DL I don't have a login with them

One thing that was interesting about the Star Wars portion was that Nels almost never touched the jazz master, they really branched out the tones

what was he using?  Please say Darth Maul's dual light saber!?!?  :guitar or was that just used for Secret of the Sea?

  7. I'm not understanding all the complaints. It's an outdoor festival. Beer and liquor is offered people will drink. Drunks are annoying. For the record I saw MMJ on Tuesday in Columbus I went out in the beer line and saw one guy dragged out by security who couldn't even stand and then about 3 other people that should not have been put in public. That was during the first set at one show. Considering some other festivals I've been too SS was a godsend with people's behavior. Maybe I'm just a hippie too but I would rather have people smoking around me. A lot of people are on vacation as well. Getting baked in 2 afternoon is kind of nice. Also getting baked helps me ignore the drunks everyone seems to be complaining about. If you don't like smoking you should try the chocolate we had instead!

This festival is amazing why should we diminish it with all these complaints.

  8. Saturday was possibly the best Wilco show I have ever seen, better than 6/29/07 in Shelburne, VT, and maybe, just maybe, eclipsing 2/15/97 at Irving Plaza. I will say that Saturday night's show contained some of the best versions of songs I have heard from the band - Either Way, Pot Kettle Black, Born Alone, Laminated Cat, and maybe Kingpin were better than I've ever heard. And the set list choices were right on. I love a Being There-heavy closing. I also got 5 (5!) songs I'd never seen live before. An epic set.

face and heart melted Saturday night!

  9. I will also comment about the sound. At each SS I am simply amazed how crystal clear the sound is. In the open air, subject to wind and all the elements. For every Joe's Field set I've been in the sweet spot about 20 feet in front of the board. Always perfect sound.

The SOUND my gosh the SOUND!!!! It was so freaking crystal freaking  :guitar  perfect!  Saturday simply floored me.  The set!  The Weather!  The Crowd!  The Beach Balls!! The intensity from every band member!  The joy from every band member!  Let's Not Get Carried Away! carried me far away man :banana

  10. My entire Solid Sound experience (my first) was incredible.

As for the talkers...  I did not have a problem with this at SS  I was fairly close up both nights.  There was talking and a lot of singing however it was no where near some of the nonsense I have put up with at regular gigs.  Even on the two night stand at the Ryman, I was blown away by the amount of drunks that showed up half way through just to talk to their friend about what they were going to do afterwards.  Maybe I was just too enthralled and medicated just right to not notice some of the babel, but I have also been working on my "blinders" to ignore these people though it still proves difficult at times.

Being my first SS I thought the food lines were long and that there could have maybe been more vendors to supplement the lines.  However I was always able to find a decent line that went rather quick.   Also once I figured out a decent bit of the grounds I was able to navigate to what felt like hidden areas like the bar by Euclid that no one was ever at.  My girlfriend also did the scavenger hunt which was actually incorporated into the grounds quite well and took us to areas where there was absolutely no one at.  There was even a single bathroom we ended up using because it was like it hadn't been used all weekend. I found it odd but pretty cool to be able to just walk up to this basically private bathroom with a festival filled with thousands of people.  My gf definitely enjoyed it!   As for eating more local.  I wanted to spend more time around the town but I felt overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to do.  It was like by the time we were ready to eat we had to get ready for something else exciting we wanted to do so we would end up just doing something quick.  We went into town after the Tweedy and Co.  set however lots of spots were closed or shutting down.  Maybe we just checked the wrong places but I found it odd small business wouldn't take advantage of the flood of people leaving the fest.

We will definitely be back at the next one.  We already discussed arriving in town earlier to take advantage of the beauty of the surrounding areas, spending a weekday to check out the art and space in MASSMOCA, spend time at the local shops, and driving through the Berkshires.  We took Rt 2 home today to Logan International and it was such a gorgeous drive.  So awesome!!

  11. It is just a book with pictures of posters over the years. Each year is separated by a great pic of tweedy or the band. No cd. I just bought it at SS and flipped through it. Pretty cool brings back memories of shows which I like. If you buy one at SS they have a book signing by the band!

The note cards are old posters cut up which is why they are bundling them with the poster book. They make great thank you cards which I will need a lot of after this weekend!
