  1. The entire set was tremendous. The beach ball prank was glorious and set the mood for the evening. Art of almost was a great song for the prank cuz it gave Jeff time to take it all in and even punch a beach ball. He was smiling as much as us! What a set. The forecaster must have been future casting the set list. Jeff was screaming parts of carried away. Wooohoo

  2. Thought the set was great. Some sound problems with Pat and I couldn't hear Mikael too well but it was Super cool! Made some great friends! Had a great time! A train went by right next to Joes field. I believe after I'm always in love. It was right when the song was ending everyone looked over and laughed while Tweedy n the band grinned ear to ear it was special.

Nice to meet people! Donna. Beth, Vince Pete John Lisa Colin anyone else I missed...

    Sleep now big day tomorrow!

  3. As having never been to a SS, the documentary was definitely a great way of informing me and satisfying my quench for visually seeing the space.  I thought it could have been better but I have watched it through twice and think it is pretty good.

The title Every Other Summer reminds me of the summerteeth lyric "one summer a suicide another autumn a traveler's guide."

  4. I haven't seen any love for Ryley Walker his new record is great!  Wonderful way to start Saturday IMO.

Bill Frisell, Mac Demarco,  Nels, Richard, Parquet!

Hope for a lot of interaction with the VC'ers too.  Think it will be a great way communicating about hidden gems around town and possibly the festival too.  We can all help one another out to have the best possible experience!

  5. Wow I'm overwhelmed by the plethora of awesomeness y'all!  I've never been to a SS before so I feel like a kid awaiting the unknown wonders of Disneyland for the first time.

Joe's field, isn't there a nice hill you can post up on with a blanket?  Is this too far out for an obsessive Wilco fan?  Should I plan on arriving pretty early for both Wilco sets?

  6. Was at show as well...great as usual. Different vibe than winterlude (was at night 5) which seemed more laid back. Regarding kingpin arrangement- wasn't surprised by the way they approached it (really liked it in fact. I was surprised they played it at all as I remember hearing Jeff say at one point last year that that night was going to be the last time they would do the call and response...insinuating that it was getting stale. Anyways, was happy to hear it though I do miss the audience participation. One thing that stood out was Jeff's intense facial expressions and body language during camera...he really gets into it...very cool.

yes I definitely noticed the facial expressions and body language acting out the song.  It pushed it to another level.  Some really tall guy slamming PBRs next to me when the band kicked in goes "freaking kamera and they're playing it the cool way!"  I gave him a bro fist in my mind

  7. Hey thats my Mom, sister and I right there!  Check out my cool new avatar! :banana

I thought the show was killer!  I saw them in the fall at the Ryman over two nights which was also stellar but the two shows seemed different than the St. Louis gig.  The band seemed to be more on point.  Nels was extremely into it lighting the place up. :guitar   Tweedy looked over during multiple solos which sparked a laugh between him and Stirratt.  I couldn't tell if Tweedy was oogling over him shredding or laughing cuz they were stretching out the jams more so than other nights.  As Sarah said Kingpin was tightened up, so in hindsight knowing that maybe some other songs have been squeezed up for the tour considering there are openers and the band is still going for 25-30 songs a night.

Thought the setlist was great and Tweedy was in good spirits all day (vintage vinyl) and night!  He was pretty chatty at Vintage Vinyl which was cool too :ike   I told them I would see them at Solid Sound and told Spence to bring some Blisters 45's for us to buy!

Also the way they had the pit set up at the Pageant for over 21 with the underage space to the right was convenient as well.  I don't really enjoy this venue compared to some other great ones I've been too however seeing Wilco here was of course awesome and special. I thought the crowd was pretty great too(minus the one drunk dude who got booted right before set). :headbonk

It was great seeing you Sarah!  I'm the one who has now met you at the Ryman, Vintage Vinyl, and The Pageant!  Your super cool and such a dedicated fan!  Happy Birthday again what a great 28!  Glad Glenn did that for you as well!  He is so cool!  Much love

The poster is also up in the store now too.  I inevitably snagged one.  Riverboat Wilco!  Note Tweedy was wearing a Mark Twain shirt... riverboat reference??? :yeaahh

  8. I was wrong it was the whole band (Tweedy) plus Liam's sister who sang backing vocals on a couple songs.  it was 4 songs from Suekierae, a Mavis Staples song, and a Neil Young cover.  I went about an hour early and was right in front of the band.  I thought it would be a mad house but it looked like half the record store was filled.  There was an awesome exclusive poster for the show and Tweedy hung out with Spence and signed whatever.  I thought Suekierae was the most appropriate obviously.   Tweedy joked around a lot!  Talked about how he use to work for Vintage Vinyl and his old boss reminded him that his car wouldn't make it in when it was too hot outside and apparently when it was too cold.  There was a joke about Darren being his longest friend however he had no evidence if he actually was the "longest" guy he knows.  It was really cool!

It was really cool to see Tweedy and then a sold out GA Wilco show right after! What a day!  I also saw a handful of friends I met at the Ryman in October at Vintage Vinyl.  Great Fans!  Hey Sara hope you had a fantastic birthday!

  9. The in-store is at 2PM.  It's a stripped down appearance of Tweedy from what I've heard. There is also an album signing. Just him and Spence. They have been giving out wristbands for the past two days.  They're website said they had 50+ left as of yesterday at 1pm, however my gf went around 9pm last night and scored 2.  There is also a bad ass poster up for it.  It says Tweedy and has a list of song names from Suekierae scattered throughout it.   When I went there yesterday morning to get the wristbands there is a window display with pics of him and spence and the entire store has been stocked with multiple of every Wilco LP and lots n lots of Suekierae vinyl!  I'm excited planning on leaving soon!

  10. I was bummed because I missed this set and it sold out fairly fast now I've seen bids on ebay copies already going for almost 300.

There are copies over at Bullmoose.com its 4 dollars off too at 85 dollars and you get free shipping on 25 and over!

Also they have copies of Ryley Walkers Primrose Green Vinyl pressed on you guessed it Green Vinyl.

Just wanted to make a friendly PSA

  11. This will be my first year at SS.  Really looking forward to it.  Just booked a little motel 3 miles from the grounds.  I'm from St. Louis and bypassed the Chicago Winterlude with my sights set on the Moca.

When do the fest grounds open and close?

So are there venues around town for late night gigs?

I thought a major appeal was the fact it is a scaled-down-festival with an intimate setting is it becoming overcrowded or was this just a problem with the smaller stages?

  12. Ya I was in the balcony both nights.  I was definitely willing to stand the entire time but It was my first time at the Ryman and I wasn't sure if it was appropriate.  The first night people were up and down the entire first set while the second night nearly everyone sat til the encore.  Also the crowd around me the first night seemed a lot more intoxicated the first night than the second.  Which actually worked considering the setlists and how the nights were presented.

So cool either way!  Definitely heading back to the Ryman soon!  Wish I could for Isbell this weekend y'all enjoy that!

  13. This was a special show.  The 1st night was awesome don't get me wrong, but tonight was just so good.  I loved it.  First time Ryman goer as well.  That place is just fantastic.  This will be a great tour.  20 Years 20 More!

I met Jeff as well!  Stood by the bus right before soundcheck like a fan boy.  Snapped a pic with him.  It was cool and he was smiling!  Used my iPad too (JK)
