  1. There goes 70 bones. I knew I was heading down this path, especially given that I'm listening on the computer right now and sit here floored. Thanks!

It sounds great. if you love wilco, love wilco live, and love vinyl, you will love it. ya know?

If you arent a huge fan, and dont have a good vinyl setup, and arent as big into them live, you wont think it was worth the money.

  2. i think it would be so awesome if they reunited. they could play "chickenmauga."

Not sure if this ones been posted:

Perry Ferrell was once asked when Jane's Addiction would reunite, and he replied it would happen “when the sky rains money.” What would it take for Uncle Tupelo to reform?

That's a great quote from him. Before the Gibbard tour, we shared a rehearsal space with (Jane's Addiction). I don't ever want to see (an Uncle Tupelo reunion) happen, and I don't think even what Perry Ferrell suggests will make it happen.

I believe it was people that use their cell phones to record video, but you can double check when I get this show posted.

  4. Not that I have any qualms with giving it to Wilco, but its kind of odd that neither Radiohead nor the White Stripes merit an honorable mention.

I've never bought into the Radiohead hype. I understand (sort of) why critics adore them, but they just don't do all that much for me. As far as The White Stripes go, I loved White Blood Cells, but lost interest after that one. Elephant and Icky Thump bored me.

  5. I'll Fight is easily the best song on the record. Both musically and lyrically nothing compares. One Wing is second with Country Disappeared, You Never Know and Sonny Feeling coming in behind. The first two songs on the record are clunkers. Then again, I'm listening to Nick Lowe's Jesus of Cool right now and this, my friends, is a darn masterpiece.

  6. I think it's far and away the best song on the record, and perhaps the best song since YHF. This record, like most Wilco records, gets better and better over time. Now a few months in, I think it's a solid record and fits perfectly in the overall Wilco catalog.

  7. One thing is certain: ACD is a pretty awful record. The songwriting is lazy, the music just plods along and there's little if any spirit. Jay's first three records post-UT are all solid, along with Okemah and Sebastopol. The last two have been snooze city.

  8. agree. it's among the worst songs tweedy's ever written and the music is a bore. i'm quite surprised they played this clunker. shoulda gone with 'i'll fight'

I think the rest of the album is much more memorable than "You Never Know". "You Never Know" feels like Wilco on autopilot. It is smooth and catchy but a little lifeless in a way. The kind of song that they could naturally write any day of the week I would imagine. I hope it will sneak up on me some day. I had a similar reaction the first time I heard Ryan Adams's "Two" off of Easy Tiger, but at some point, it hit me how freaking amazing that song is, in a singer songwriter/song structure/lyric way. I think I like the message (if you will)of "you Never Know", but it just seems like cruise control or autopilot.
