  1. Quickly scanning the topic, I haven't found these two gems mentioned yet:

    Damien Jurado - Maraqopa

    Woods - Bend Beyond

Definitely among the best things released in o twelve imo.

I really liked Woods' Bend Beyond.  It just couldn't compete against Beach House, Frank Ocean, Grizzly Bear, Fiona Apple, Tame Impala,..  It's not bad, and I really like it.  Woods is that awesome band that gets buried under by a bunch of heavyweights at year end, sadly.  They always make beautiful albums, but it's tough to compete against those heavyweights.  I think I squeezed them into at least my top 25, and if not, 50.

  2. Who are you to allow or not allow me to dislike script reading? I confirmed the definition of bored and can confirm I was bored. I'm not saying you were bored or that the band was bored. I'm not saying they didn't try something different. They failed to keep me interested in what was going on. I won't go see them again. I was hoping they'd play music when I went to see them. Most bands that i choose to pay to see do keep me engaged for their entire performance.

See, this is why we can't have nice things.

  3. I saw the Chicago show where they read the Seinfeld script. I would call that an off night. Boring.

I was actually front row to that.  For them to decide to re-enact The Chinese Restaurant entirely is extremely abnormal, far from boring.  If you want to talk about boring, let's talk about how all bands play music for 1-2.5 hours and leave the stage every night and move to another city to do the same thing, again, and again, 72 times, a year.  After that, they enter the studio to make new music.  And then they rinse and repeat, for their entire life.  You're certainly allowed to dislike the script reading.  Calling their plan to sporadically change their planned act by a wheel which encompasses a line by line reading of a comedy,... yeah, I'm sure the word you're looking for is, boring.

  4. There are some songs on Sweet Heart Sweet Light with justifiable lengths.  Some of them have great hooks, but overstay their welcome and enter the extremely broken record territory.

    Chromatics - Kill For Love

Not a bad cover of the classic Young song.

    Tame Impala - Lonerism

  5. I watched it on The Cooking channel last night. Caught from the end of Vedder/Waters. Did Green Day play earlier?

    No.  Here's the setlist.

I'm a fan of Eddie and Roger, and I thought that duet of Comfortably Numb was atrocious.  I'm too embarrassed to be a fan of those two at the moment.

  6. Don't be dissing Adele now.

I heavily concur with the protection of Adele.  Even if you don't like her content, her vocal chops are extraordinary.

I would not say rock'n'roll is dying.  But it sure has taken a backseat in popular music stations.  It would be pretty hilarious to see TV On The Radio end up on this one day and sing Heroes and Young Liars.

  7.

It would be great if they got Billy to do the induction speech.

    Why would you...

Are you trying to raze the Earth?

    What is wrong with you?

Why would you want Billy Corgan to try articulate his crazy rambling thoughts?

Just let him go back to trying to make music and reclaim his legacy, lost long ago.

On a separate note, I might not love Rush, but they're some extremely talented musicians.  The same applies for the members of Sonic Youth: Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley are just amazing to watch.  It's just harder for you to pay attention under the different tunings, signatures, and noise.
