I think Dylan's closest 20-year-in album is Infidels (1983) as his first record came out in 1962. I love Infidels. Way better than Empire Burlesque to my ears.

I love the idea of not ranking things but instead sharing what we love. It makes so much sense!

There is a lot to love about living in Maine. John living here makes it even better!

Great story!
And Dale Murphy should be in the HOF. His performance on the field gets him there, and his character puts him over the top.

not to be a setlist guy, but the return of Spiders makes me very hopeful for NH.
just one of those songs I always want to hear that I've missed sorely at the last 4 or 5 shows I've seen. I think the last time I saw it was Solid Sound in '17.
I have the same hope for NH!

I liked the visit to nerdland. Outstanding recap!

^^^I kind of like seeing Impossible Germany, the Many Worlds coda, and At Least That's What You Said in the same setlist. It gives each guitar player a chance for extended soloing. I also just like all three songs. But I can see that others might like to see others in there.

I did not mind the CC repeats. I was actually hoping for a repeat of Many Worlds.

I was surprised by how many songs I was surprised that they played (list below). I thought we would get 2-3 that have not been in rotation for a while, but we got many more than that.
You Are My Face
Muzzle Of Bees

For those living in the northeast, it is a great time to be a Wilco fan. Solid Sound in two weeks, then another swing through in August. The closest show to me in August is in NH, but I am going to pass on that as it is a lousy venue that is run by and/ticketed through Live Nation. I won't pay their dynamic pricing if I have a choice. Looking at either Ommegang (saw Wilco there in 2012) or Shelburne, VT (2007). Both great places to see a show. Choices, choices.

That artwork makes me think of Ryan Adams and The Cardinals - Cold Roses.
I had the same thought when I first saw the artwork.

I'm not a paying subscriber. Yesterday's entry about opening for Warren Zevon at the Blue Note was my favorite of the free content so far.
I loved that one, too. His writing has a directness and honesty that I appreciate.

That was a fun read. I keep thinking that the next SS will be June of 2022 - that it will be put off a year.

I'm liking the Parquet Courts mashup - it's pretty bold. I'm also liking the safest one on there, Twin Peaks' Spiders (Kidsmoke). The only one I did not like the first time through is Low's take on War on War. I like Low; I do not like what they did with War on War.

Well, that's interesting to know. He looks just like Chris Slade when you're six hours into an acid trip.
That's definitely not the New York promo video I saw. The one I saw was more sparse. Filmed on what looked like a soundstage. No concert production or lighting. So no frills it was almost black and white.
But again, the acid, so who knows.
This had me laughing.

The Carpenters, early 1970’s, Garden State Arts Center (now PNC Arts Center) in Holmdel, NJ. Yes, it was my choice. I honestly don’t remember the year, but with Google as my guide, I’m guessing it was 1973. I was 12. I really did love the Carpenters then!
The Carpenters were huge at that time. My older sisters were big fans then.

First one with parents - Grand Old Opry in 1974 (then again in 75, 76, etc.)
First one by my own choice - The Kinks, June 1983, Portland, Maine.

I saw my first concert ever 40 years ago tonight: Jerry Garcia Band at the Orpheum in Boston.
That's a great first show.

Promising was a highlight for me, as was Can You Get to That.
The Schmilco songs sound better as solo acoustic numbers to me. I think this is because I do not care for the full band versions on the record. I did not think that the band added much to the songs, other than on Locator and Someone to Lose. I know there are lots of fans of the record, though, and that I am likely an outlier on this.

I tend to alternate between fiction and non-fiction, as well as between books that make me focus on today's social storm and those that are a break from it.
That said, here's what I am currently reading:
I frequently alternate between fiction and non-fiction as well. I read this one back in April. I love his writing.
If there has been a silver lining to having COVID-19, it is the number of books that I have had the time to read. I have read north of 25 books since I came down with symptoms on March 21st. I recommend the new Anne Tyler book (Redhead by the Side of the Road) for those who like her writing style.
As you all have likely read, some people who are symptomatic (5%, 10%?) have symptoms that wax and wane for months. I have been on a roller coaster of symptoms since 3/21. Upward trajectory for sure, and at this rate I figure I will be symptom free in a month or so. Then I'll be back to my regular reading habits of a book every two weeks or so.
Wear a mask, give yourself space from others, wash your hands, avoid long periods inside with others who are not in your bubble. Do your very best to not get this dastardly virus.

While Fables is the REM album I go back to the most, I'd still say that Harborcoat remains my favorite REM song.
Might be my favorite as well.

Listening to Monster now I think it has aged surprisingly well. I know it received uneven reviews at the time but it’s a rocking record!
It is a great rock record. I like it more now than when it came out. I realized recently that Peter Buck is turned up to 11 on it - what's not to love?

This would make a great closing song of a concert. Everyone sings and affirms each other. Better yet, make it the first song of the first show. Then close it with a repeat performance. I know I can use a little cathartic release . . .
I thought about it being the first song they play in their first show after the pandemic. I will be surprised if it is not.
