  1. Agreed. No Woody songs. A rockin, awesome show as always, but the set list coulda been more eclectic. Def NPR influence.

the NPR link to hear the show http://www.npr.org/2011/09/21/140669742/live-sunday-wilco-in-concert

I was pretty disappointed with the setlist, tbh. Recent shows hadn't had songs like Drummer or Man Who Loves You, but last night's did. I think the NPR broadcast kinda pressured them to play more of the hits, which was a bit unfortunate. I was hopping they'd bring out some more rare songs, though Box Full of Letters was a nice surprise.

Still, great show. Monday->Outtasite is just the best way to end a set.

And Via Chicago to open the encore smoked!

  3. It is a fantastic city. Unfortunately it still has a negative stigma from the "smoky steeltown" days.

Once you visit, it really opens your eyes.

Glad you were able to appreciate it fully.

I just knew the crowd would be HOT!

yes pgh is a lovely city (from an eastern PA native)

Surprised to read that about people sitting. At the Boston show, everyone in the entire orchestra (front to back) were on their feet from start to finish!

yeah, been to five wilco shows, haven't sat or gone potty yet!

  4. Saw 3 mid-Atlantic shows (Richmond, Bethesda and Philly) all were fantastic, also cool to see them at different types of venues (older rehabbed theater, newish symphony hall with awesome sound, big warehouse-club respectively) in addition to the Wolf Trap and minor league ballpark (Wappingers Falls, NY) shows I saw last July. Also listening to the live webcast from Concord, NH while posting (over 1000 posts!) to VC with fellow Wilco-obsessed folk was a gas! Not only does the band deliver the best show for the price (or really for any price!), it may be the best entertainment of any kind for the price!

  5. Great show with an awesome encore -- Dreamer in My Dreams, Casino Queen, Outtasite (Outtamind) (they played Mind/Site in the acoustic), and a "rave" version of I'm a Wheel with no instruments, just them having fun on the stage, singing part of the song while a prerecorded version with a few extra beats played on a Macbook.

The soundcheck, as heard through the front doors, was stellar:

    Fool Such as I

    The Losing End

    Outtamind (Outtasite)

    So Much Wine

    In the Streets

    Thirteen

    Someday Soon

    I Must be High

dang i wished they'd played more of those in the show! 'twas the best encore i've seen in five wilco shows (3 on this tour), casino queen blew the lid off the joint! eclectic setlist, a lot of the "standards" they've played live this year and last, but also i saw 7 or 8 songs i hadn't seen live in 4 previous shows, so that was way cool!

  6. Great show in Philly last night (my third on this leg of the tour, after Richmond and Bethesda). Tweedy did call out the Chatty Cathys, there was a lot of yakking going on, and I think the Electric Factory venue had something to do with it. The folks on the floor were not chatty at all, it was more the folks in the balcony, though I saw lots of folks there digging the show and not talking.

  7. Hey,

I've got an extra ticket for the Electric Factory show. Available for face+fees. I can give it to you outside the venue or whatever works.

Let me know if you're interested by message or email.

yep, interested, please email kmartin@peace-action.org or my cousin (the ticket is for him) at davidtoddjones@me.com

  8. Just got confirmed for a press ticket, so I'm selling the ticket I bought. Paid 53 total.

I live in the city so I could meet you wherever beforehand/at the show.

    Thanks!

  9. Anyone else feel like they were at a Wilco show last night? I've got brain fuzz from 5 beers last night and hoodoo voodoo on a loop in my head. It's a great morning!

my knees hurt from standing on my basement floor, so yeah (my basement floor is much harder than the concert hall floors, where of course i stood the whole time (almost) for bethesda and the whole richmond show. well that and the scotch.

  10. If they weren't smart enought to hire a bright, sophisticated Wilco fan such as yourself, Johnny, then all I can say is, you deserve better than them. I hope your ideal job shows up soon.

    COFFEE'S READY, EVERYBODY!

That's something I was just thinking...how lucky we all are that even in this difficult, strained economy, and even if we don't necessarily have "spare" money for concerts or for traveling to them, here we are, still getting to bask in an incredible, hours-long concert! God bless Wilco for their love and generosity.

seriously, hardly anybody plays 3 hours, and the ticket prices are daggone reasonable, especially for the best freakin' band around!

  11. "Play 'Box Full of Letters'!"

    "we did."

"Aye...but you didn't bring the rock!"

random story i recall hearing about a drunkard in Scottland years ago when Wilco played some low key acoustic version of the tune....they played it again after arming themselves with the electric gear....the dude loved it afterwords...

    excellent!
