Switching it up from E'72, just listened to Providence 9-15-73 on Sirius. Boy, those horns sound terrible. Get me back to E'72.

I too am old and set in my ways - but I really like Big Thief and am also going tonight.
It's at a new venue in town which I'm excited to see.
I thought it was a great show. They rocked harder and more electric than I expected. The place was packed.

I listened to this band & don't get it. Don't read anything into that, it's just me. I'm old & set in my ways. Enjoy!
Yea, I'll see myself. Never seen them. My son and his friends are very much into them. I only know the current album, which I think is excellent. I'd be happy if they just played that. Don't know any of their other music.

I like the interviews. It was quite something to listen to someone read the letters Pigpen wrote to his family.
Amazing to hear Pigpen's words.

Enjoying the new season of the Deadcast podcast - all about Europe 72.
They had a segment on the Dark Star from 4/8/72. There is a four minute jam at the end leading into Sugar Magnolia which is incredible.
Love the Deadcast podcast! Each season has been excellent. I never want each episode to end. Really a top notch production, going deep into the source material.
This is a particularly great time to be into the Dead. The 50th anniversary of the Europe '72 shows- doesn't get better than this, day after day. Listened to the 4-8-72 show while watching the Masters. That Dark Star>Sugar Mag>Caution is off the hook.

great recap Paul. Wilco, the bands, the staff - everyone delivered an incredible four days (at least for me; i had a great time. my only slight annoyance was discovering that there is seemingly a sizeable portion of cig smokers in the Wilco fan base).
And not enough pot smokers! 😜

Thanks Paul for all your continued reporting here.

Los Lobos... Nope, Omicron transmissibility strikes. Seeing my young grandkids this weekend and then my girlfriend's 91 year old mother next week. Decided to play it safe and stay home. And unpack. Ugh. Would much rather see Lobos but here's where we're at, again. Deja vu all over again.

I think there was a little bit of One By One before Hoodoo. And Jeff asked if he had played that on the last show. He was playing it when Susie interrupted him.

I'm also in MA, I'll check out the guide and see if it's playing again. As I think about it I'm pretty sure we paid for it when it first came out. Would like to watch it again.

That's an excellent documentary. I watched it a while ago and now I forgot how I accessed it. Did you have to pay for it? How did you watch it?
