Wilco — 17 March 2024, Melbourne, Australia (The Forum) [Night 2 of 3]

Awesome gig! The Forum is my favourite venue in Melbourne and it was so good to see Wilco back there. It was an intense start to the show. I haven’t really got into the album version of Infinite Surprise but it was brilliant live. Then more heavy jamming on ALTWYS. When Jeff got the acoustic out after that, my friend said to me “he probably wants a break after all that” but of course it turned to be Handshake Drugs and another epic, monster jam. It’s one of my top 5 Wilco songs and this outing did not disappoint. In many ways Wilco remind me Neil Young and Crazy Horse when the -

I was at this show - it was awesome!! Despite some real idiots in the crowd, Jeff's brilliant performance could not be overshadowed. His voice sounds fantastic...I actually think it's gotten better with age...and his guitar work is so great. I love how he recreates those complex Wilco songs with a lone acoustic guitar. The way he captures the spirit and feeling of the original songs is just perfect...and of course he also uses the barebones arrangements to inject some humour into the show: "there would be a guitar solo here!" and "that was the piano part!" What an awesome show. The comment above about the Sukirae songs being richer in the live setting is spot on. They really came alive compared to the album versions. Was good to see Jeff's solo set...I was so impressed with how he recreated so much of IATTBYH in the solo acoustic setting. Being a huge Neil Young fan, it was really a treat to hear Losing End, which was not only a perfect choice for this set and band but also perfectly performed. The Bowie cover was fantastic too and surprise guest CB (

I agree it was so refreshing to not have a sea of phones held up in the air but I gotta say I wished I had my real camera with me. With all the great lighting and my perfect spot in the center of the venue I could have taken some amazing photos.

I'd also love to hear your recording. Anything is better than nothing!

I have been a Wilco fan for many years but this was only my second time seeing them live...it was easily better than the first time I saw them in 2007 in Melbourne. What a rocking show. I don't know where these guys get the energy to crank out such long sets night after night, especially Nels and Glenn who attack their instruments with such ferocity for the entire gig. Couldn't have asked for much more setlist wise. Was really hoping to hear the Big Star covers and my personal fave Wilco song, Summerteeth, but otherwise it was great. I'd forgotten what a cool song Muzzle Of Bees is and it
