  1. Concerning Wolfmother, if the white boy afro and the no shirt look wasn't questionable enough, pairing it with cut off jeans seals the deal. Classy!

  2. I concur. I was amazed at the difference when I listened to my official copy. It sounds phenomenal. One of the best sounding records I have heard in a long time. Now I just need to get the vinyl.

  3. In case you haven't heard 92.5 has switched from KZPS classic rock to Lonestar 92.5, playing "outlaw country, classic rock and alternative country."

Currently playing "Big Brown Eyes," the Old 97s. I have heard Wilco "Monday," Golden Smog "Looking Forward To Seeing You," two Dead songs, Ryan Adams "Lucy," Lyle Lovett, Waylon, Billy Joe Shaver, plus many other great songs. They mix in some classic rock, Doobie Brothers, Springsteen, Stevie Ray, Skynyrd, some Eagles. Mostly decent stuff, but so far it has been worth waiting through to hear what comes next. I flipped the fuck out when I turned on my car after work to hear "Monday" blaring from my speakers, it is completely different to hear the Wilco coming from a radio station than from my CD player. Anyway, give it a listen if you desire.

P.S. For anyone who remembers Q102 "Texas Best Rock" Redbeard is back and working for 92.5. This makes me happy, I grew up with Redbeard.

Edit: In the last hour they played "New Madrid," now they are playing "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" which fades out and in comes... "Box Full of Letters!!!"

  4. I am pretty sure I know this one. I teach Pre-K and we use a reading program called "Open Court" published by the company SRA. There are sound cards for each letter and letter K has a picture of a camera and when you do letter K with your students you say "K, camera, "K," "K," "K," just like C." Because the C also has a camera. We don't teach kids that C also makes an S sound. So obviously Tweedy's kids used Open Court and like the rest of us who have seen it he realized it sucked and immortalized it in song. That's gotta be it.

I love Billy Joe and was feeling kind of bad for him till I read this article. Sounds to me like Billy Joe screwed up. He is supposed to play about a mile from my house Friday night. I think I am going to have to go.

    Here are some highlights:

Shaver and the man police say he shot, 50-year-old Billy Bryant Coker, had been visiting in the bar for about an hour to 1 1/2 hours before the shooting, according to the affidavits. The two men had not known each other before but were introduced that night by the bar

  6. There are some match ups between bands that are not even a tough call and some that I don't even want to vote because I don't really like either band. But then they match up the Band v. Marvin Gaye!!! WTF! Two of my all time favorite artist, how do they go head to head, why isn't one of them against the Eels or Collective Soul or Moby? They are both legitimately three seeds at the absolute lowest.

  7. Steve's kid, Justin, has an album, EP?, out. It is quite good. I picked it up via iTunes. Mostly just Justin and his guitar. Great songwriting, nothing groundbreaking, just good songs. Justin sang a song on the end of the Steve's live album that is fantastic, so this isn't a huge shock. Anyway, thought some of you may be interested.

  8. Picked it up at Best Buy for $14.99

Inside there is an insert that says:

    Coming in 2007

    Neil Young

    The Archives Vol 1

    1963-1972

The first incredible volume in the definitive audiobiography.

8-CD, 2-DVD collection features rare, unreleased studio & live recordings, never-before-seen film footage, spectacular photos, personal letters and a 150-page book.

Visit repriserecords.com/neilarchives for more information and an exclusive preview of this historic musical collection.

Also, on the DVD during some songs they just show a tape recorder on a stool, no Neil. I guess the film must have been bad.

  9. Post Office and One Hundred Years of Solitude are two of my favorite books. Bukowski is blunt and in your face and Garcia Marquez is just a master. After you read One Hundred Years, I highly recommend Love in the Time of Cholera. Equally amazing, but completely different than Solitude. Very subtle.

    Great stuff, really interesting.

  10. Cool. Thank you. I really like the IATTBYH....

No problem. Both of these tracks really blew me away. At first it sounds a little odd, Nickel Creek covering Wilco, but the execution is phenomenal.
