  1. Fall 1982 they hadn't figured out what to do with Throwin' Stones.

I really like the 13 April l1983 version in Burlington.

My oldest daughter is applying to college right now and Boulder  and UVM are her two top picks.

Boulder 3 September 1972 is pretty underrated.

Speaking of underrated, 18 July 1976 starting at Lazy Lightning is phenomenal.

  2. ...another great Audience moment....

Listening to 17 June 1975 Help Slip Frank (audience - 87560)....after the gushingly beautiful vocal finale of Franklin's and the song ends you can hear Jerry say "we are gonna take a break", the crowd cheers, and the taper says, "change the batteries."

  3. july 7, 1989 was one of the best shows of 1989. The first set is fantastic for many reasons (e.g., best aiko post 1985?) (e.g., excellent jam in hell in a bucket) (e.g., check out the huge blast Phil bomb as the band comes out of Loser jam to "Last fair deal...") (e.g., Let it Grow is only rivaled by 10 February 1989 for best of the year). The second set is equally impressive (e.g., scarlet fire is huge) (e.g., the lovelight finale ends, and then returns for another finale).

Pretty cool to have such footage of a great great show from such a late era in Jerry's career...

  4. I went with 9 friends (all guys).

    The Bluegrass fest started thursday.

I arrived tuesday with one friend to go hiking. For those first two nights we stayed at a condo in Telluride. For the festival we moved to a large condo (5 bedroom) in mountain village. We had to take the gondola (we called it the "ganjala") to and from telluride.

The gondola was not that bad. After each night of the festival there were very long gondola lines to get back to mountain village (25 -40 minute wait), but we just went to the singles line and it was only about 15 minutes (and 2-3 of us went up together).

If I had it to do again and money was not an issue, I'd stay in telluride.

If i had it to do again and money was an issue, i'd stay in mountain village. it really wasn't that bad.

hiking wise, we did the see forever trail (up to 12,500 feet) to the wasatch connection and bear creek trail - about a 9 mile look. Stunning views....

The festival was an incredible amount of fun. especially the tarp run...

  5. I've gotta make it back to that fest sometime soon. Have you been in awhile? It's been about 18 yrs since, for me. My ex still takes the kids.

This will be my first time. Coming from Madison I will need to adjust for the elevation...

  6. 11-17 was a pretty good show. The 15 November 1971 Austin show was better - in my opinion. 11-17 had, in my opinion, exceptional Cumberland and NFA>GD>NFA; above average Truckin’ jam, PITB jam, Big RR Blues, and i guess above average Other One Muncle Other One Wharf.

The band sounded rowdy and having a blast...or so it seemed to me...

Great to see them releasing these early shows...
