I recall moderatly enjoying the first two Kingdom Come albums and have never admitted that to anybody until now. It may have something to do w/ getting some from the cute girl who worked the register after our shift at Wendy's, while the sweet sounds of 'What Love Could Be' played on the car stereo.

In other news, we had our fist overnight trip w/ the kids to Grandma and Grandpa's...Owen slept for maybe 10 minutes.

Ludicrous is a little strong. He's having an all-star type season. There are just others who are more deserving.

I should probably be familiar with either/both, but I am not (although I have heard both names before). The Aquabats are ska-ish in their nature, right? And I know nothing of the Travoltas, although I've always assumed they were Ramonesian in nature, a la The Riverdales, Huntingtons, Queers, etc.

 

Does anyone in either band wear a headband?

The first few albums are totally ska-ish, but the last couple dropped the horns and added a little new-wave-ishness to it. Their last album 'Charge' has me hooked and 'Vs. the Floating Eye of Death! And Other Amazing Adventures - Vol. 1' is a lot of fun too.

The Travoltas...from the Netherlands...Descendents meets Beach Boys w/ (again) a new wave twist. Almost too poppy, but their cover of Peter Schilling's 'Major Tom' done in German is awesome. Album-wise: Not bad, but not awesome...I just nicked a handful of tunes i liked from iTunes.

I'm (not?) saying it's 100% right, I'm just saying it happens.

However, when the team wins the world series the prior year, it should be well represented.

Bjorn, I know the reality of the all-star game being a popularity contest...doesn't make it any less ludicrous when somebody like AJ gets in over more deserved players or someone gets voted in for their performance last year. That's all i'm saying.

Also, the rationale that THIS YEAR'S all-star squad be representative of LAST YEAR'S world series team is now tied w/ 'Ken Lay took the coward's way out by having a heart attack' as the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

i'm curious what ction and/or sean thinks of both the aquabats and the travoltas.

Whatever happened to that one dude who played guitar for Prince up through the 1999 record? He sounded pretty badass trading vocals with the Purple People Eater on "1999", and I saw him again today on VH1 classic for the "Controversy" vid. He totally missed out on the Purple Rain money...

Oh I know, to Cubs fans, this was like some huge victory to not get swept, since every other team in both leagues have been beating on them like a rented mule.

Well to listen to the 'fraidy cats Cubs announcing team (who suck BTW), you'd think that a 6 run lead was 1. If I had known that WGN had the Sox guys, I'd have watched it.

 

I had this series pegged at 2 of 3 for the Sox and 4 of 6 for the season -- so there

both broadcast teams suck. that said, w/ the way the Cubs seem to blow a sizeable lead in the blink of an eye this season, of course the announcers are going to be conservative.
