Very dead. I thought the sound in the theater was terrible too. But, he somehow overcame it all to give a great show. Seeing Iggy tonight and Lucinda Sunday. Big weekend!
i'm going to the stooges tonight also.
-
Did you ever hear Eyes Adrift? I saw them live and it was fantastic. Also have the CD. It is okay. Definately strong strains of late-era Meat Puppets on there. I haven't heard anything that Curt has done since then though.
i saw them at the magic stick it was a really good show.

Saw him at the Majestic in Detroit last night. Absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed the live show better than the albums. His violin playing will bring you to tears. Maybe a little too much whistling (he could easily lead the chorus in Bridge Over The River Kwai).
i was at the show also yesterday and thought it was really enjoyable. the crowd was rather dead though.

That was a wild tour! Do you have it?
that was a great tour i was at the ann arbor show. i wish bob would have done the woo's on brown sugar.
-
how is the venue. drove down when they played the taft theatre and really enjoyed that show.
-
i really loved howl, but the new album is really good. a definite return to form.
-
first album was Nirvana Nevermind
first concert was soundgarden with rocket from the crypt and tenderloin

going to the andrew bird show on thursday then the stooges on friday i can not wait.
-
I've just got two things to say, and both are cliches:
How come I didn't see this show before, and why the hell did it get cancelled after 12 episodes?
because there was not enough seth rogan in it. (just kidding i really loved that show its a shame that no one watched it).
-
thats a shame. wish both sides all the best.

Sirius #26 has it in light rotation.
i've heard it quite a bit on sirius 26. its #6 on their weekly countdown.

Blue Jays-Tigers game postponed by cold weather
April 5, 2007
DETROIT (AP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays-Detroit Tigers game scheduled for Thursday afternoon was postponed because of cold weather.
The game will be made up on Sept. 10 at 7:05 p.m.
-
toronto on a saturday should be worth the trip.
-
That's great. Did he know about the drinking game?
yeah he laughed and said be careful.
-
Yeah, he does the Tigers games, along with the ugliest man on television, Mario Impemba.
Are you sure we're talking about the same guy?
i do morning stock at costco and mario came in one day wearing fox sports jacket and shirt and he is even more ridicioulous looking in person. i told him that we love to play the rod allen drinking game.
-
leaving the tigers game today a bunch of drunks were saying how much they sucked and how they were going to do nothing this year. you go to love those $8.50 beers.
-
can't wait till monday. i think i'm developing a cough that will not allow me to make it into work.

New Pornos, Malkmus, De La Soul Added to P4K Fest
Also Battles and the Ponys!
Stakes is high! The Pitchfork Music Festival, taking place July 13-15 at Union Park in Chicago, is pleased to pull back the curtain on several additions to our all-star lineup: indie rock heavy hitters the New Pornographers and Stephen Malkmus, hip-hop legends De La Soul, art-rock supergroup Battles, and hometown heroes and recent Matador signings the Ponys!
All will join the company of previously announced festival performers Cat Power, Clipse, Of Montreal, Iron and Wine, Girl Talk, Jamie Lidell, Grizzly Bear, Professor Murder, Ken Vandermark's Powerhouse Sound, and, of course, Sonic Youth performing their landmark 1988 album Daydream Nation (in collaboration with All Tomorrow's Parties' Don't Look Back).
If that's looking pretty good to you so far, keep in mind, more than 40 artists will perform at this year's Pitchfork fest-- we haven't even announced half of them yet! Plus, there are still two more artists to announce who, like Sonic Youth, will be performing their classic albums as part of Friday's ATP/Don't Look Back festival kickoff.
Here's the lineup as it stands today:
Friday, July 13:
Sonic Youth performs Daydream Nation
Saturday, July 14:
Cat Power
Clipse
Iron and Wine
Girl Talk
Grizzly Bear
Battles
Professor Murder
Sunday, July 15:
New Pornographers
Stephen Malkmus
De La Soul
Of Montreal
Jamie Lidell
The Ponys
Ken Vandermark's Powerhouse Sound

Thanks for refreshing my somewhat hazy memory... Did you see the Beasties when they played Cobo Hall last time? What, two years ago maybe? That was a good show. I've also seen them at the Palace when they toured for "Ill Communication" and before that at Cobo for maybe Check Your Head? Maybe both shows were in support of Ill. I shouldn't have smoked so much pot back then. It fucks up my concert-going memories. The first time at Cobo, Bad Brains were supposed to open, but couldn't because what's-his-name went to jail for assault. This was right around "The Hurra" cd release because I remember Hurricane doing "Stick 'Em Up" and "Elbow Room".
Actually, come to think of it, I think the last Palace show was in support of "Hello Nasty".
I also saw Hurricane DJ at a rave thrown by my friends at Paxahau sometime between then and when Severe Damage came out.
Fuck... I need to dig some ticket stubs out and figure out when I did what...

yeah i saw them at cobo a couple of years ago with kweli and at the palace with tribe.

Have any of you ever heard any of the Adrock solo shit? He had BS2000, which I though was decent. I have the vinyl and am not sure they ever released any of that on CD. If not, maybe I'll digitize that, too. I saw him a few years back at the Magic Bag or the Magic Stick, can't remember which. He also had that side project punk band, but I can't remember their name. That wasn't so great.
I haven't heard anything from DJ Hurricane lately, either. The first Hurricane disc, "The Hurra" is fookin' good, the second one "Severe Damage" had some good tracks, too. That last one, "Don't Sleep", not so hot.
In trying to think of some other Money Mark shit, he had a track on "Handsome Boy Modeling School" with Sean Lennon. I think it was called "Sunshine" or something, but that was good. Money Mark was also on the Mixmaster Mike album "Anti-theft Device" for a track that was "sick", as the kids say nowadays.
Speaking of Kid Koala earlier, I have a 45 of his band Bullfrog that was pretty awesome, but because I'm at work and can't access my records, I can't think of what it is called.
Fun shit. Sorry for rambling...

the bs2000 show was at the magic stick and it was a lot of fun. i really like the song do the side to side.
