I've been so blessed to have wonderful concert buddies over the years.(I'm not so good in crowds). Most recently I got a message from one of "the gardeners" at 8 a.m. on the day that Allison Krauss and Robert Plant played in the Golden Gate Park at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. It went something like this "I woke up, as usual, at 6 a.m. today and said to myself 'what would the best use of my time be?' I decided to go down to the park and lay down a tarp with some erosion staples if the tarp is still there this afternoon we will call you"
At 2p.m. the message was "the tarp is still there come join us" so there Jason and I were 15 feet from Robert Plant, TBone Burnett and Allison Krauss. Goddess bless the gardners .
And a shout out to Renic who totally helped us out with balcony seats that were sublime at the Winter Residency

Can you really do 4 more years of a foreign policy dictated by a think tank? (http://www.newamericancentury.org/)
If I thought the old McCain was possible still alive I might not be so concerned about your decision. Integrity is a key word here. Who has it? Who appears to have lost theirs? Anyone who can allow the very group that slandered them 8 years ago to run their ad campaign after promising to run an honorable campaign is concerned only with their personal gain. Not the kind of quality one should look for in a leader of any organization much less a nation.
I'm keeping a good thought for you. Vote early

Oh man, do I have a story to tell from that tour (later, when I have some time). But you're 100% right on that one.
I'll bet that story gives new meaning to the songs Train Kept a Rolling and Draw the Line
Of course, then I'd have to tell a story about one of those early tours too!

Sunday morning YouTube session ... confirming that this is my favorite from The Fixx.
Those cheesy early '80s videos were the best.
Wow you guys have sent me back to the metro/smart bar in the early 80's thanks for the trip

what a great report...thank you b and B. I can just picture the I shall be Released. The bridge School Shows are such a great way to support a wonderful place. Props to ya'll for going both days
-
thank you nudie note the jacket and the pin...hippies for obama on NY and how beautiful the pics of Wilco are.
-
Wow what a night...my friends and I agreed that we would love to see any of the bands that played again. Although Wilco was early in the day (fourth up) so not as long a set as folks got later in the evening. I'm with Bbop the new song had a nice hook and the lyrics seemed intense. Jeff told us that this was his favorite place...area...market so always great to hope for a multinight run in SF. He also said before California Stars that he was wearing his flag pin in this unamerican part on the country and he was proud of his country. At that moment the big Vote November 4 sign went up on the screens.
Other highlights for me were watching Nels play acoustic and still "getting Clined"
Mikael playing the grand old Neil Young pipe organ.
and Prefered B have a great time in section 101 where "these seats don't suck" (understatement from my buddy Melinda)
As to NY brilliant. Words fail me at this moment

Thank you for the picture wook. Think I'll put on a keystone show. Rest in peace sweet Merl.

lammy, one of the cool groups from the five night run at the warfield was bob weir, john molo, and phil mesmerizing unrehearsed and beautiful. feel so lucky to have seen that this year it really has been a fabulous year for music

Jackie has plenty of talent and he's come a long way with the band in the past year. I don't think he hampers the others. Ryan Adams with the band was another issue. I don't think it was a good fit although I appreciated the fact that it was off-the-cuff and raw and all.
I also loved the warren/jimmy phil and friends shows. Quite frankly, it was seeing them at Frost (6-02-2002) that allowed me to start listening to GD again ...just missed Jerry so much it was hard to imagine anyone else singing those songs.
I'm a big fan of Jackie's ( he's a Sunset District guy) . I love his version of Sugaree from the Obama benefit at the Warfield. It was so apparent that he was nervous to play with Bobby and we all knew those guys didn't practice for that show. Anyway, you can hear the audience' roar of approval on the recording(sorry can't find a link for that...but I still get goose bumps when I hear it ). I also think Phil has really taken him under his wing. It's nice to see Phil show up and play with him and Tim Blum (the skinny singers) or with Jackie's band when they are in town.

Thanks for the posts of the dinner. We, at house of seven, watched that last night and loved it. It is so nice to see both of them roasting each other. It gives me hope for the reconciliation/compromise this country will need on November 5th no matter what happens. At a dinner party the other night (so many of my flatmates friends are comedians or political bloggers that its like being in the middle of a MSNBC broadcast) someone said that the pols mean very little because of the disqualification of voters and challenges that many voters will face at the pols this year.
So, thank you to all of you who are working to get the vote out. Now, I am going to fill out my absentee ballot and cancel out My Republican friend's vote on all matters local and national...a ritual that we have been engaging in for the past 15 years .
-
Kyle how wonderful....beautiful setlist !!!! Gaia bless Neil Young. He always brings it, however I love when he gets that "crazy horse" vibe going. You know last night was the full moon so you got that side of Neil too And Day in the Life...well aren't we blessed to be able to see that? Just the stream from Farm Aid blew my mind thanks for the videos.

Yes ms yvon Wild Nights was Van Morrison(were you and Wendy MMJing last night?) and Matt you got that one right My Three Sons. I woke up with TFOTD running through my head. It was an amazing set. I thought I had seen every side of Elvis (the show at Davies when he premiered the symphony was mind blowing as well) but yesterday was really something.
Myboy here is the link to the Coward Brothers ie Elvis and TBone

I won't bore you folks with the Robert Plant/ TBone/ Allison show info right now because I'm off to work and quite frankly still speechless around that. Suffice to say I think "the gardners" and I blew Jason's mind with his first HSB show
Hopefully Scott will put some pictures up I can link you folks too.
In the meantime something for y'all the Jerry/Elvis thing:

Red Shoes
Uncomplicated
Wild Night
Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down w/Jim Lauderdale, on guitar, for the rest of the show
Down among the Wines and Spirits ? a new song he wrote with TBone Burnett
High Timberline vocal Jim Lauderdale writen by Jim and Robert Hunter
Friend of the Devil
(speaking about his boys who were on stage with drum sticks "apparently they have seen the set list now its time for drums and space")
My Sons ? new song about his boys.
Sugarcane written with Tbone
Crooked Line written w/ TBone sung w/ Emmylou Harris
Love Hurts w/ Emmylou)
Whats so Funny bout Peace, Love and Understanding
Scarlet Tide w/ the Welshmen's Choir and members of the Waco Brothers/ Emmylou
Well, He really blew my mind this time. The band was amazing Austin DeLone-keyboards, Bill Kirchin -guitar, Pete Thomas -drums Fats Kaplan - fiddle. No appearance by TBone however all the new songs were amazing so perhaps he will tour with Elvis like he is doing with Allison Krauss and Robert Plant....(which I still have not recovered from seeing on Friday night )
I must say that to see that version of Scarlet Tide all these years after This Years Girl, Wendy and I saw it in Columbus when the war first started gave me pause. Elvis as usual was righteous and funny...he looked as dapper as ever with a dark purple hat, waistcoat and vest. Here is a link to The Coward Brothers info, now we all have something to look forward to.

oh ms yvon, thank you for the virtual trip to ecotopia...sounds wonderful. And a beautiful set list well done.
-
I give this album to people and they send me little cards of thanks....covers so many bases for what has happened the last few years. Plus Three Dimes Down is the best "new Stones song" of this century

happy birthday kevin.hope this year is filled with beauty and happiness for you!
