Yeah, I was just popping in to say, I've finished the book, but will not be around enough today to start discussing, and will probably be too distracted until at least Wednesday morning.
So if anyone else wants to start chatting about the book, I'm not going to stop you, but otherwise I'm calling an unofficial delay of the official start (or something like that ) until later in the week.
I'm down with that.

I feel like I've heard the one from the 25th before...
I think it was this:

i think we can bi-partisanly agree this is totally awesome:
I liked it. But what's with the one white kid who lacks rhythm? He's giving credence to stereotypes!

I'm glad she recanted, cuz that is so obviously fake! I work in a place where I see at least one real black eye a week, and that's no shiner! Pathetic. If she was a true MAVERICK, she could have at least gotten her little friend to cut her face and punch her in the eye. I mean COUNTRY FIRST, Gawd!

Oh, I certainly hope so. We've tried..
I talked about this in the rtt, but Monday night I came home from work and my OBAMA/BIDEN sign had been stolen from my yard. I went to a friend's house (the guy who got his sign with me) and was bitching about it. He calls me up the next day - HIS sign had been stolen too! Fuckers.
So I guess it's a good thing we had backup - we both just put another sign out the next day.
My husband put up two homemade wooden Obama signs. They are nailed to hedge fence posts ... not going anywhere anytime soon.

I have finally gotten into this band, just picked up yoshimi yesterday and it is all that I have been listening too. Anyone have any recomendations for a 2nd FP purchase? I was recommended At War With The Mystics but I'm kinda in the mood for something from an earlier time frame
If you like Yoshimi, I think you'll love Soft Bulletin. Frankly, it makes me happy to be a human. For your few first listens, I recommend playing it straight through rather than on shuffle or in some sort of mix. I particularly enjoy listening to it while I'm cooking. There's even a song that mentions putting the vegetables away. At War with the Mystics is fun, but I wouldn't consider it essential.

Anyone back with a KC rally report yet? Inquiring minds want to know....

So Fox News and their entorage have confirmed that liberals are in fact, anti-American. Obama and Biden are our leaders. One idiot called for an extensive expose' that will show the world where these freaks hide in government.
I work for the government. There, I've outted myself so I won't have to be exposed.

I guess I went too far by saying that she wasn't a fascist.
That remains to be seen, doesn't it?

I personaly feel bad for those who have not heard this on vinly or who do not buy vinly in general.
I personally feel badly for those who have the inability to spell "personally" or "vinyl" correctly.
(Just playing. )

She brought it on herself by being the dangerous combo of stupid and overly ambitious.
Besides, she's said plenty of mean crap about Obama lately. What goes around comes around. And, yeah, she seems to be stupid and overly ambitious on top of everything else. The minute Palin joined the ticket, any small chance that I would vote for McCain flew out the window. Her inclusion on the ticket is truly an insult to women.

It would have been better if he had made those comments to the wack-jobs showing up at rallys before he was publicly admonished for his previous silence by several sources. I also don't doubt the Secret Service has had something to say to him about the rhetoric employed at his rallies lately. My wife works at a childrens' museum in Columbus and the area she runs happens to have a direct view of the park that Obama gave a speech at on Friday. She described the Secret Service presence at her workplace as "rather intense" that day. I don't doubt it, with some of the crazies coming out of the woodwork lately.
Right now, I the Secret Service.

90.9 the bridge is at UCM & plays Wilco a lot. One of the Dj's is my client and gave me a Wilco shout out on air one time. Made me feel special. But hearing them outside of my home does make me feel weird, but probably because I only listen to live shows. JT sounds strange @ Chipotle .
I luv that station, whenever I can get it to tune in. They first turned me on to Josh Ritter.
On a related note, I have no problem listening to music and chewing gum at the same time. In fact, I enjoy it.

Me & Fatheadfred have been driving all over MO & into KS checking out who has what sign(s) up. Gas is down to $2.99 now, so what the hell. Kansas...all McCain.
Not in these parts. I see lots of Obama signs and stickers around here. (I live about an hour southwest of the KC metro area.) Generally, though, people are more interested in state and local level politics, from the Boyda/Jenkins race all the way down to the county commission. Honestly, I think McCain will take Kansas, but it won't be a blow-out. We've had a lot of local boys killed in Bush's war, the gas prices are hard on the farmers and commuters, and small businesses are suffering. The median income in my county is only about $40K, and times are tight. People are not as conservative here as one might think. I know that my redneck/Catholic dad and my yuppie/Catholic sister and brother-in-law intend to vote Obama. Now, if my evangelical mom and stepdad swing to Obama, I may just pass out.

$3.12 in Lawrence, KS, yesterday. But I drive a little car that gets 37 mpg, so I didn't need a fill-up.

Congrats on finishing! I've always wanted to attempt a marathon. Now, you're my inspiration! May I ask, did you follow any certain training program? Curious minds want to know!

Underworld and The Brief, Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao were the next highest vote-getters, so they'll be in the mix one way or another. Other suggestions?
I haven't read either of those. Currently, I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird, which I somehow managed to never read before now. It's awesome.

If by some horrible fate Lipstick and First Dude are elected (Palin & Mr. Sara Palin), judging from this article he's gonna assume he really is the First Dude of America. McCain & Cindy are sure to be shoved aside
I vomited a little in my mouth a couple of times when I was reading that article. This really stood out:
Todd Palin told Fox News that son Track is now in the Army, and that Bristol, 17, whose pregnancy was recently made public, "is not high-maintenance."
Gee, thanks, Dad. Guess Dude Jr. was a little more attentive.

Bloom's quote "But one thing was quite clear being broke didn't disturb me in the least. I had started with nothing, and if I now found myself with nothing, I was at least even. Actually, I was much better than even: I had had a wonderful time."
Loved that quote, too. Thanks for pointing it out.

I was also enjoying the book so far. That is, until the truck I was driving was stolen. With my briefcase in it. With the book in that. Not to mention my wallet, checkbook, phone, iPod, and on and on.
I can't believe someone would steal your truck just to get that book. Unreal!
Sorry, man, that really sucks.
So, where will you be watching the results come in?

Um, we have a TV (literally found it at the recycling center) but we didn't have one when our kids were younger. And now, still no cable. Just an antenna. I think I'd get along with your friends just fine.
