  1. QUOTE(markosis @ Oct 23 2006, 06:12 PM) *

I heard some dude jumps onstage during one of the sets and Jeff beats him to death with his guitar.

    yes

and no, because said incident didn't happen on the northwest coast. Duh! :P

You're right, that was pure Midwestern hospitality. (And I can say that because I'm Kansas born and bred.... And proud of it!) :thumbup

  2. At the Wichita gig there was a half ass pat down by security at the door, this of course seems to be just something security does to cover their asses in the event of a tragedy that may happen. It's probably done on the advise of some attorney.

At the Wichita show, security just looked at me and said "you're okay." I assume they didn't pat me down because they didn't have any females doing the pat downs. But I could have been some deranged fan. (And, in fact, my passion for the band has left me accused of being a deranged fan many times. :P)

And at the 2004 Columbia, MO, show I was involved with some "crowd security." Some very drunk guy wearing a Dinosaur Jr. shirt kept trying to push his way to the front and claimed that he knew Jeff because he had been a roadie for Uncle Tupelo. He ended up hitting someone (likely a VC'er----anyone remember this??) in the head with a beer bottle and got pushed back by the crowd until he finally left. It definitely could have turned ugly but didn't.

Do I think Wilco needs to be more careful as they get more famous? Absolutely. But as long as Wilco continues to tour, I will go with my fellow VC'ers to show Wilco the love they deserve. (And not the face-grabbing kind, either.) :wub

  3. Tweedy adds that Wilco's new album is due next April.

:dancing Yay! Just in time for my birthday! And I also haven't gotten the new issue yet ... slow mail, just one of the perks of living in rural America. BTW, many other mags have had cover stories on Wilco/Tweedy, so RS is just not as hip as they think they are! (But I still subscribe because it is so darn cheap!)

  4. I didn't have any shit to begin with.... I lucked out! :lol

    :cheers

I hear ya! We're 8/12/96 (10 years, baby!) and still don't have many belongings (futon, anyone?) to divide in the unlikely event of divorce. It definitely just keeps getting better. :wub
