at about 1:30 into "you are my face" I feel it becomes very remincisent of "southern man" during the instrumental break...

None of my friends can believe I've held out since they all caved. But I got tons of other new music to keep me busy. I like waiting for something when I know the pay off is gonna be great, the anticipation makes it even better...I just love having the entire CD with booklet with me when I listen to it for the first time (increased by a group gathering/listening)

now that the time is drawing upon us who here has still held out?
only about a week or so to go...
-
someone should make a section on the wilco wikipedia site for songs recorded for each album that did not make the final release....

If I were ranking:
Anodyne>March>ND>SFG
I agree but would switch March and Anodyne:
March>Anodyne>ND>SFG
March and Anodyne are so goddamn close though, it's a hard decision to make.
-
I'm listening to Anodyne right now, a brilliant cd though I skip "Give Me Back the Key...", and "Chickamauga". Everything else is beau-ti-ful.
BLASPHEMOUS!

"The Inlaw Josie Wales" - Phish
"Be Careful with that Axe, Eugene" - Pink Floyd

those were pretty damn cool. (Minus the digital restoration on some...lame). I wish they had more pictures of McCartney and his glorious mustache...

what the hell is "buttrock"? And is there any relation with it to "dadrock"?
-
is the dvd going to come out with the actual SBS disc you buy in stores? or is it ONLY a pre-order type thing?
-
I never heard them until the mid 90s and I have always thought they sounded like crap. I doubt EMI is in a hurry to do anything since those Capitol boxes came out.
It is not very fun to buy a whole bunch of cds twice - I have bought all the Beach Boys cds two times now. I have not bothered with the Dylan re-masters - as I own them all (almost) and that would be a lot of money to spend.
While where at it - the Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty cds need re-mastered too.
the levels on Greetings from Asbury Park are atrocious!

I definatley picked up "dusty in memphis" last summer and was stunned by how fantastic of an album this was. I was wondering if anyone else could reccomend another dusty album to check out?

from billboard.com:
Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche has completed "Anomaly," a 23-minute piece for the Kronos Quartet that will premiere in New York in October. The seven-movement composition came to life when Kronos member David Harrington approached Kotche after the 2006 release of the latter's latest solo album, "Mobile."
"I really dug in and spent a lot of time, because I've never written outside of percussion before," Kotche tells Billboard.com. "That was basically my November through the end of January."
"It's very percussive," Kotche says with a laugh when asked to describe the sound of the piece. "I'm not toning it down. I'm playing a multiple-percussion kit. It's really rhythmic; there's a lot of energy. Some parts are beautiful; things I couldn't play on drums. That's the way I treated the whole thing: four players in the quartet. I have each player to act like a limb to explore rhythmic ideas. If I could have a violin be my right hand and a cello be my left foot, what would it sound like?"
The Kronos Quartet's most recent release, "Gorecki's String Quartet No. 3," came out last week via Nonesuch. Kotche, of course, is about to begin touring in support of Wilco's new album, "Sky Blue Sky," due May 15.
In addition, Kotche has begun recording a new album with his duo, On Fillmore.

I'm so pissed he didn't play guitar on the U.S. tour! Nevertheless, he'll be around again soon i'm sure. This is great news! When did he "stop" playing guitar? The first time I saw him in '99 I can't recall wether he played the ole guitar or not...
-
I'm at work so I can't double check. But I do think I recall in the wilcobook with the Mikael write up of the wilcobook cd songs saying that some of them did come from the dbpm sessions...
-
that is the weakest u.s. tour dates i've ever seen on a schedule

Leonard Cohen "and Jesus was a sailor/when he walked upon the water"
