  1. this thread makes me sad. my grandpa played "hawaiian guitar" with hank williams, and his lap steel he was going to give me was pawned by his gold digging second wife. there's no way i could ever be happy with a lap steel that wasn't grandpa's 1929 model.

that said, ignore the cheap one you linked. the name ROGUE is appropriate. it's theft. get something marginally good at a marginal price. this will frustrate you. the rogue 12 string i bought was held together with elmer's glue and fell apart quickly.

  2. i have an es-335 and a les paul. both are awesome, but i should mention the DOT you're thinking of isn't a hollow-body, it's semi-hollow with a solid core, meaning it will feed back less at high gain, but still have lots of versatility.

i've always found fenders to sound kinda snotty and nutless. i'm kinda juvenile in that i want a guitar tone that will shake my ass when i stand near the amp. get a dot, especially if you can find one c. 2003!

i LIKE the fender tele, but it's not my tone. it's a bit too quacky for my sound. i prefer my LP.

  3. I was yet to be born for another 17 years. He's alright, no Ryan Adams thats for sure.

thanks! i got a nice chuckle from that. i was born in 75, but didn't start listening to stuff that wasn't hardcore/punk/metal until maybe 7 years ago. i've listened to a lot of GP since then though.

  4. For the Monday Night game intro (that justed viewed) they show Hank Williams, Jr. (of course) playing with Brian Setzer, Jon Bon Giovi, some Country singer dame, and they do a very quick flash to a keyboard player. The keyboard player looks a lot like Page McConnell from Phish. Anybody got a bead on this one?

Admin edit: Link above removed for annoyance factor. Thank you.

  5. bob at eurotubes knows his stuff. he's a nice guy and a good resource. 10 years ago he used to post on the peavey forums all the time, then his business started to take off. he's a good one.

that said, i personally HATE ruby tubes. they're made in china and have some really wide variations in the quality control dept. MESA and GT are remarkers. they rematch other brand tubes and print their label on them. I tended to go with the svetlana tubes (i think they're made in Finland or Russia) in all my old amps. i haven't had to retube my carvin, but since it's a "vintage style" amp, i might spring for some NOS telefunkens or something. i really don't know.

  6. i can't f'ing believe the incompetence of the browns. when they became the ravens, i gave up on football. when the reformed browns drafted frye, i got reinterested. my favorite team has pretty much always been the seahawks, but i haven't been able to watch as much as they're rarely on tv here. this makes it easier to not bother with the browns for me.

time to get a seahawks #5 jersey.
