  1. If it's "Green Day sucks" then they pulled it off mightily.
  2. Not that I ever hated him, but when I was a kid, Springsteen was a joke to me. I was about 11 when Born In The USA was huge, and my young mind was not privy to the intricacies and hard truths built into the title track. All I heard was a jingoistic rallying cry that I equated to the things that smelled like bullshit to me: ads for McDonalds that showed rows of wheat fields and sunrises, Ronald Reagan chopping wood in a t-shirt and jeans, the idea that all Russians wanted to nuke me to death. As a result, all of his work was easily dismissible. The live video for "Rosalita" seemed to go on fore
  3. The general mood I'm hearing up here is that the bailout failed, that healthcare would mean more money out pockets, and it has to stop before the gov't takes over everything. It's moved beyond the fringe: Mass is made up of mostly of independent voters, and it seems most of those people darkened a circle for Brown yesterday.
  4. This is probably a blessing in disguise for the Democrats in the medium run. By November, the savvy ones will have changed their pitch up enough to satisfy the seething independents.
  5. They really are. I watched a rebroadcast of the ACL performance a few weeks ago - jawdroppingly awesome! Hopefully they'll tour this year...
  6. Yeah. This one's from my sister's husband (or maybe her, they share the account): WE WON!!!!!!!!!! Great job everyone on helping with the campaign. Massachusetts is definitely ready for a change. True change will be coming shortly. Hold tight for the "Miracle of Massachusetts" will be set in motion very shortly.
  7. Your earlier 'fistful' post was good, but you should've quit while you were ahead.
  8. WBUR radio is reporting that the Coakley camp has heard from "multiple, independent sources" that ballots pre-marked with a vote for Brown are being witnessed at polls across the state. Could be a long, dirty night.
  9. I'm amazed that Brown's campaign OKed the mailer I got the other day, that read "Black Friday" (pic of credit card) "White Christmas" (pic of snowflake) "Brown Tuesday" (pic of calendar). Sounds messy.
  10. u2 puts it over the top for me - I'll see this. I've read similar reviews among the trashing.
  11. Well, though I'm not done with Volver (have a half hour to go), I want to help get this thread to a new page so I don't see Bobcat Goldthwait's (though I take your word he's a good director) open-mouthed mug everytime I click in here:
  12. They did that to Letterman too. I imagine any network would do this, but we only seem to see late night hosts leaving NBC under less-than-ideal circumstances.
  13. But, it was! You wouldn't believe it but some of the conversations I've encountered/heard about include the argument that they don't want universal health care coming here.
  14. Or, they not only dislike Coakley, but also disagree with her stance on the issues.
  15. It's not that simple - Brown supporters would've been pretty vocal if it was anyone else in the Dem's corner. It just wouldn't have caught on as much if she wasn't such a shitty candidate running a terrible campaign.
  16. Thanks for noticing. Brown supporters have swingvoteitis. We don't get that much here.
  17. Ah. Could've easily been a quote from a Brown supporter re: Obamacare. It's all just fucking noise from both sides.
  18. I realize that since you joined this community earlier today and have two whole posts here you probably already understand the general tone of this place and are able to recognize irony vs sincerity from longtime members, but just in case you don't: he was fucking around by mentioning his post count.
