Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone else is planning to see pavement in the near future on their tour this summer. I just got tickets to the show in september in Minneapolis.

Also, holy cow it's been forever since I posted here, I was afraid my account would have been deleted.

yeah, i wouldn't use "weak" to describe the album, just most mainstream and poppy and not as interesting/original instrumentation wise. i'd agree there's some nice lyrics on it.

 

i'd recommend the first Gleam EP honestly, that's what got me into them first. Backwards Through Time especially.

after that, Mignonette, Carolina Jubilee, & Emotionalism.

This album is the first time I have ever heard these guys and if this is their weakest album to date as seems to be the general concensus, then I'm excited for their other stuff cause I love this album. Where should I start?

You feel their music so deeply in your body that you feel compelled to get a tattoo of just that of your favorite song of their's artistically written into your DNA (true story)

Just think how much better they're going to get! Scarrrryyy.

But the sad part is, the cap works against teams like this. You draft players, develop them, and then lose them because you just can't afford them under the salary cap. But Chicago is such a good market maybe those kids will give them some hometown discounts... maybe.

If I'm not mistaken they can lay on heavy bonuses and tons of extra pay in the playoffs (assuming they make it there) as those don't affect the cap. So that could be another option for 'em.

I hear you. But I'm calling it now. Hawks win the cup. I disagree with you on the finals match-ups. If they beat the Wings, all things considered, they should win it all. Like I said... the BEST Blackhawks team I have ever seen... not that that means they will win it all, but they have very few weaknesses, except for youth, and that lack of "affectation" seems to be serving them positively in the playoffs.

I agree with the fact that it's the best Blackhawks team in awhile, surely the best I've seen and I also grew up watching them in the early 90's. Not only is the organization great on the ice but I also have great respect for their front office and coaching staff, Quinnville is a great coach and with Bowman moving to chicago to put his hat in the ring they only got better in that aspect. As a hockey fan I like these guys chances at the cup in the next few years, as a Wings fan I hope they fail whenever they meet us. But it would be nice to have a team in the central compete during the regular season points wise.

So, predictions for the Conference finals?

Pens in 7.

I'm a die hard Wings fan, but I don't think there is any way that we will finish the Hawks in 5. Their powerplay has been seemingly unstoppable lately and they are peaking at the right time. Either way I'm stoked for an Original 6 western finals. I hope it sparks a new rivalry between them, after all they should be the biggest rivalry out there. Divisional opponents, close proximity, Original 6, etc.

Being dead wrong remains to be seen I suppose, but I definitely agree with the wildly overanalyzing part. With that said it was an interesting read, and well written.

If jay weren't in a lawsuit to get some money, I'd swear he paid people to come on here and post this topic twice a week.

Horrible, terrible things, from what my studies have indicated. I don't have the Yooper tolerance for mass quantities of coffee.

 

(My husband's from the UP. He claims the coffee tolerance/need is to prevent internal organs from freezing.)

I just moved from there, and oddly I didn't get into coffee until now.

I'd like to see a study done on what happens to a 35-year-old woman who drinks 48 oz. of coffee and two shots of espresso within a 4-hour time frame.

... Not much?

All this is good to hear, considering my coffee intake has risen significantly lately.

So I finally got out of the state of economic horror that is Michigan and moved out to Seattle, Kirkland to be more specific. I obtained my degree in December and came out here for some new opportunities. I was wondering if any you VCers live in the area and would like to meet/hang out or just give me any sort of general information on the area and it's music/arts/job/hobby scene.

So far I love the area and can't wait to get more acquainted and comfortable with it.

I finally caught this ACL episode which featured Jack and boys and Cat Power for the second half and was wondering if anybody has a way of getting a hold of it. I've searched the internet far and wide and PBS doesn't even have it for sale (goofs).

Does anyone have this on their computer that would like to share or know of how to get ahold of it. Thanks in advance.
