  1. i haven't been around these parts as long as many of the folks but I am a "carry over" fan from the uncle tupelo days (i.e. old). it seems like every record jeff has ever put out has been polarizing to the fan base.

it took me forever to get into wilco, and i mean years. a.m. was such a rushed, sophmoric effort when it was released (especially when compared to trace). however, it provided a great bassline for me to look back upon when masterpieces like being there, summerteeth and yhf started sinkin' in. to watch tweedy develop as a front man and songwriter has been simply amazing.

so, i guess that's a long winded answer to say jeff's work has always been examined and dissected. ususally extremely critically at the start...however, time has always proven tweedy knew what he was doing...

  2. Tips:

    Wear really, really comfortable shoes.

    Bring ear plugs.

Plan your day ahead of time.

Have a back up show ready.

Experiment, don't just see shows of bands you're familar...

most bands play several showcases and not just the "official" sxsw one. meet people, share info, and you'll get to see the band you're after...

I've always done the badge but it seems getting into shows isn't a problem. I went about 90 mins early for arctic monkeys and flaming lips and walked right in...

Longest line I stood in was for Hot Chip.

    Wear really, really comfortable shoes.

    See you there.

  3. This is one adventurous romp! Anyone else spinnin' this? So good. The cover art is strong too... though I'm not sure it fits the album's vibe that much. Does their first album compare?

If memory serves they'll be at SxSW so I look forward to seeing them. Any reports on their live show?

    Just curious.

  4. The Burn To Shine films, made by the same director as Sunken Treasure, sound pretty cool in concept. Are they worth watching?

I have the one with Wilco in it. I think it's pretty good. Some of the bands are better than others but the concept and execution is pretty good.

    track listing:

    Tracks:

    1. The Lonesome Organist - Catching Flies With Teeth

    2. Pit Er Pat - The Bog Man

    3. Shellac - Steady as She Goes

    4. The Ponys - Shadow Box

    5. Wilco - Muzzle of Bees

    6. Tight Phantomz - Ninja Talk

    7. Freakwater - Jewel

    8. Red Eyed Legends - Je M'Apelle Macho

    9. Tortoise - Salt the Skies

  5. Long time lurker here hoping someone can help me out. I have a couple Daniel Johnston tracks on a compilation (Walking the Cow & True Love Will Find You In The End) and want to hear more. Where's the best place to start? Fun?

thanks for any advice you can give.
