  1. Canceled shows so stink for those that have tickets....but,

I do understand the decision. SNL only tapes 20 live shows a season now. It's an honor to be selected as the musical act at this point. If you look at the list of recent performers, Wilco is one the smaller acts in terms of national recognition. It would be very difficult to turn this down.

Plus, they get to perform 2 songs.

    (furiously setting tivo)

  2. Absolute agreement -- that would have been so epic. Pretty sure thats what Dylan would've done just to piss off the Less Than haters :stunned. As much as I love Dreamer, it seemed a bit anticlimactic for the situation since they had already played it. But I loved every night and am just getting picky now, so please don't beat me up.

although not required, that did surprise me.

I thought Dreamer was the perfect way to close the residency. The lyrics are so appropriate.

  3. The band liked us so much that they asked to come along and play Conan O'Brien and D.C.!

We are very excited. I don't have to tell y'all that you've picked an absolutely fantastic band to be a fan of.

Not only are they a great band, but warm, generous, funny, smart people.

We are all honored to be involved.

    Cheers,

    Max

That's great news!! Congrats and have fun.

Thanks for the quick bios. You guys were a huge part of a legendary week!

  4. I'd like to hear Let's Not Get Carried Away, but:

There's a lot of other places to be

A lot of things I would rather be doing

A lot of songs id love to sing

But I know that you would just ruin it

Those lyrics might offend people!! :poke

  5. The Saturday night Rock Set was some of the best Wilco I've ever seen. You can throw in every rock cliche on this one; ripped the roof off the joint, heads exploded. It all happened. And it all ended with the most beautiful The Lonely 1. Aaaaah.

I hope they repeat Monday on Monday.

Greg Kot should check out Wilcobase or read it more closely. He says in his blog

  6. woah dave -- you got lucky. There's zero tickets at Ticketmaster now. Did you buy yours at The Vic?

I was on the phone on a business call and pulled up two on TM. I couldn't end the call with "Excuse me. I've got to run to the Vic and pick up concert tickets" , so I bought 'em online even though I'm right around the corner from the Vic and it kills me to pay $20 in service fees. I couldn't risk losing the tix but thought that there were probably many onsale and I threw away $20.

All I can say is keep checking. Often the Vic has tickets the afternoon of the show and they won't show up on TM.

  7. The Riv is kind of run down, which isn't a big deal I guess, but I have never liked the mosh-pit type area up front. It can get almost dangerous down there. And if you don't get there early, finding a spot where you can actually see the stage is a challenge. It's really the only venue in this size, though, which is obviously what they were shooting for (maybe for a DVD?). Smaller than the Auditorium, Aragon or The Chicago Theatre, but bigger than the Vic, Metro and Park West. Not complaining, just not my favorite venue.

You can see the stage from about 75% of the venue. The sell the space behind the bar on the back of the floor which ends up becoming an area that people stand around and chat. If you don't like the pit, the first rail back is a nice spot. Most of the balcony is ok, except for the top. Jam Productions has been reserving the front four rows of the balcony for their guests and band guests lately.

As for the mosh-pit, I only find Wilco mosh-pits dangerous when Louie B is there! :dancing

  8. Looks like the auction is on, but the limit is now 20 people. Wasn't it 30 in the past? Could be a typo since the date is wrong.
