  1. is Long Long Long still really quiet on the White Album remaster?

I think it's significantly louder, and a joy to listen to. I felt like I was hearing it for the first time. There are a lot of great moments going through all these songs in mono, but nothing blew my mind as much as the White Album (as a whole). Holy shit. :worship

  2. The Summerteeth vinyl isn't nearly as compressed

:huh :lol What a revelation! Welcome to the world of vinyl - I think once you've listened to more albums you'll find that almost everything, not just Summerteeth, sounds better on vinyl.

  3. Well, then my plan will be to buy Abbey Road and Let it Be on the 9th and wait to see what happens with the rest. All large chunks of cash in bjorn_world are spoken for pretty much through 2010.

Same here. As much as I want that mono box set, I don't think I'll be able to swing it. :ohwell

  4. My eyesight's not that great, so it really pisses me off when all the people with 20/20 vision hog up all the good seats. I don't think I've ever seen a guy without glasses who didn't cut or push ahead of other people in order to stake out his spot, and this usually pisses people off more than the simple fact that he's got spectacular vision to begin with.

My husband is 6'4, and I think anyone who's ever attended a show with him will attest to the fact that he doesn't fit either of the descriptors above. You're painting with broad strokes.

He may be the nicest tall guy I've ever met! :thumbup

  5. Also, can you download old Nintendo games to your Wii? So I could play the original NES version of Punch Out, Mario 1, 2 & 3, maybe some fucking Contra.

Yes, you can! There's some kind of Wii store on the main menu...you can buy and download a ton of old games there.

  6. I've said it before (I think) but I don't understand the vehement hate for Shake it Off. I realize some people find the song annoying (I don't), but do you guys truly think the lyrics are bad? I think they're great. I'm not saying it's a better song than IATTBYH. I'm just saying.

I'm standing by my July 16th prediction of Ashes as #1.

I don't think the lyrics are bad (although "Somewhere there’s a war/Sometimes there is art" kinda makes me cringe), I'd just hate to see it finish very high on the list when there are soooo many more worthy songs.

  7. IATTBYH at 3 is good. I have it at 5 on my list. Can't complain really. And it was a little better of a write up. Maybe he read our complaints.

God, what a song. :wub Much better than Shake It Off, the selection of which almost made me throw up until I realized i was being punk'd. :)

  8. Something like this:

    2. Hell is Chrome

    3. Muzzle of Bees

    4. Remember the Mountain Bed

    5. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart

    6. Radio Cure

    7. Misunderstood

    8. She’s a Jar

    9. Gun

    10. Via Chicago

    11. Bob Dylan’s 49th Beard

    12. Sunken Treasure

    13. More Like The Moon

    14. Jesus, etc.

    15. Hummingbird

    16. Summer Teeth

    17. I’m Always in Love

    18. Cars Can’t Escape

    19. Let Me Come Home

    20. Far, Far Away

  9. Nah, it'll probably be more like this:

    #1: "Hate it Here"

Key lyric: I should take care

Jeff Tweedy's #1 song, "Hate it Here," celebrates a trip come full circle. Having risen from the ashes of Uncle Tupelo only to discover a troubled lover's cigarette ashes after a night-long fight, he found himself in late-2001 saluting yet more ashes - this time of a patriotic, grim nature. Fast forward six years and Jeff once more has risen from the ashes of anxiety, addiction and migraines. On "Hate it Here," a fan favorite about a lonely, confused lover managing a break-up, Jeff celebrates a return to health and responsbility.

  10. I know it sounds crazy, but ever since the "view new content" (formerly known as "view new posts" from the old board) stopped working right, I don't come here very often.. It's just too much of a pain to find new posts going through each category.. I know, I'm lazy and stubborn... But that's why I'm not as active on the board, and maybe other folks are like me..

    what lamrod said, mostly.

    :cheers

  11. QUESTION-I bought my ticket from ESue but it is a willcall ticket. I tried to call ticketmaster & never got thru. I have her enevelope addressed to me from her state to mine & a letter from her to the venue releasing the ticket. Do I need anything else? Will I get in to see Wilco?????

Dude, bro...you will get in! From Front Gate Tickets themselves:

How do I let someone else pick up my tickets?

To allow someone else to pick up your tickets at will call, you'll need to write a note on your email confirmation that releases your tickets to another person. If you do not have an email confirmation, you must include the order number on the note as well a copy of your photo ID (the original purchaser.) Make sure the other person takes the note and his/her own photo ID to the show to pick up your ticket. The venue will keep your note. All tickets for one will call order must be claimed at the same time and each order can only be held under one name. Unfortunately, we cannot split a single order into multiple names.
