  1. QUOTE(bobfrombob @ Jan 31 2007, 01:27 PM)

I had tickets for Zeppelin once (1975?) when Plant's daughter died and dates were cancelled

In 1977.......the following day's second Oakland concert would be the band's final live appearance in the U.S. After the concert, news came that Plant's five year old son, Karac, had died from a stomach virus. The rest of the tour was immediately cancelled.

'75... '77. I'm lucky if I can remember what I had for breakfast. Actually, I know that I didn't have any breakfast this morning. I had tickets to see them in Buffalo on that tour. My aunt who lives in Welland had to get them for me. No TM in 1977.

  2. It's not "Funeral", that's for sure. I haven't decided better or worse yet, just different. In my old fashioned way, I don't think I can make a final determination until I hear the official release.

Welsh Rick has it right in terms of more mature. It doesn't have as many of the wall of noise rockers that "Funeral" had. It doesn't have that same youthful exuberance.

Remaking "No Cars Go" was a great decision because it is spectacular. "Keep The Car Running", "Anitchrist TV Blues", "Windowsill", "My Body is a Cage", and "The Well and the Lighthouse" are strong strong tracks. And there are no weak ones - nothing on here I'll be skipping over.

And I said this on another thread but it bears repeating. If you preorder through Us Kids Know, http://www.arcadefire.net/, you're helping to support that site.

  3. Believe it or not, the following is a real message sent from one colleague to another. Don't ask how I came to have a copy because people would die if I told you (probably me first)

I don't know if you realize that when you fart in your office, the smell is very uncomfortable for me that I had to leave my office. This is happening for quite some time now and there is no way we can open a window.

I would ask you in the future if you need to fart, please do so in the bathroom.

    Thank you!

  4. :lol They're in excellent company though. And Elton John is so dangerous he's listed twice.

That would explain the "really gay" rating he gets (as opposed to the gay hobbyists I suppose).

I'm looking for signs it's a joke but I think they're actually serious. Somebody should let Cyndi Lauper know she's on that safe list. I can't imagine I'd want to be on that.

  5. I guess it's a matter of playing a theatre 70% full but letting everybody who is interested a chance to get in versus playing a smaller venue at 110% capacity and creating that "sold out" buzz. But like you say, a lot of people who are interested but not real fans will take a pass on a theatre show. Even the Toronto and Montreal shows might not go as big as they think..... those are pretty big halls.
