  1. Lest anybody wonder what happened, I removed a couple of my posts ... not because they were inflammatory, but because with other posts removed, they no longer made sense (and weren't really pertinent to the remains of the thread anyway).

    In other news...

Anyone see the USL's Vancouver Whitecaps take down Toronto FC this afternoon -- in Toronto? WTF?!?

Toronto had a ton of chances, but Vancouver's keeper (Nolly) was insanely good today.

    wait... Canada has soccer? #sarcasm#

  2. Not into them, sorry.

Wendy played the new one for me on our way to see Stevie Wonder the other night. There were a couple of tracks that weren't bad, but overall it bored me.

As much as I like their new album... I don't think its comparable to any of their older albums.

  3. Be sure to visit Amoeba records and the Getty. Also, LACMA is a really wonderful art museum.

I've been to LA twice and both times we went to Amoeba records... and both times I spent a few hours there. I LOVE that place! They have a entire warehouse attached to the building that is nothing but vinyl.

  4. I appreciate the mere fact that you brought them to my attention, I noticed they are on Itunes... I will probably nab it off there once I get paid. I am assuming they are Chicago based, do they play in the city often or suburbs? I'd like to check em out if I can next time I am in town.

  5. I got some cabbage I am looking to throw down on a decent turntable. My roommate just brought his old Bose speakers from the 70s with a bitchin receiver and I feel like I am not doing justice by hooking it up to my ipod...

I have never bought a turntable before soo I don't really know much about what type of needle/turntable/whatever else I may need to get something sounding good.

Does anyone have any they are looking to sell?

should I go new or should I go vintage??

what would be a good price range??

any help would be greatly appreciated and please PM me if you are interested in possibly selling an oldy but goody

    #cheers#

  6. It's a shame that they'll eventually stop supporting XP. XP SP2 is the best Windows OS...ever?

agreed, its kinda one of those things where you don't miss it until its gone.

I work tech support in the dorms at my university and we have chalked up about 10 "its a known vista issue" problem in which there is literally nothing we can do to get these poor kids internet but to tell them to switch back to XP since those work with our servers or go open source.

vista has seriously resulted in me pulling my hair out of my head on numerous occasions... I wouldn't recommend anyone anything but a mac these days, windows is in way over their head.

  7. The development version of SP1 for vista has been released... I would recommend that and make sure that you ALWAYS have your updates running. Vista will tailor off to be an decent operating system... it is just going to take years to fix all of the bugs, microsoft isnt going anywhere.

Also why are you running disk defrag??? Since the size of hard drives have increased soo much it is kind of a useless tool and wont do anything for your performance issues.

one last thing, if you get the latest version of spybot... get all of the updates for it, then under one of the pull down menus on the top you can switch to advanced user. From there there is a system startup applet that will show every startup entry and give you detailed information about whether or not it is necessary to run... vista should have about 30-40 processes running when you hit ctl-alt-del.

...otherwise ya, either revert to XP, GO OPEN SOURCE!, or buy a mac.
