  1. 1) Flaming Lips - HOLY HELL! I have seen these guys a few times but this one was amazing. We waited 6 hours to get as close to the front as we could and we were about 4 rows back. They did a "sound check" 2 hours before the show in which they played Black Sabbath war pigs... I LOVE WAYNE! they also did their own sound in which they were just hanging out around the stage for about 3 hours before the show talking with the crowd and you could just tell they were having a good time.

    2) DJ Shadow - as this was his last show in his US tour, you could tell he gave it every thing he had. The man is amazing live and his visual effects were crazy. He somehow had the audio synched up to the visuals...definitely someone you should check out even if you don't like DJ's.

    3) The Roots - I finally got a chance to see these guys, I have loved them for years but never made it to a show. they had a full brass section and for about a half an hour they had this collaboration of covers from everything to biz markee to justin timberlake...it was a great show

    4) Wilco - I waited 4 hours to get front row against the railing (first time ive gotten to do that for a wilco show) and yes they were AWESOME. My only comment is the setlist they played. It took jeff about a half hour to open up to the crowd. I think its because he normally hates playing festivals (in which he stated). But the crowd got into the show and so in return they definetly rocked out. I just wish they woulda planned a better setlist...

    5) Kings of Leon - First time I really ever heard these guys, and they rocked out pretty hard. It was really funny, the audio cut out and they had no idea until after the song was over. the crowd was really into it and cheered them on while they were playing. But when the lead singer found out...he flipped his lid, you could tell he was mouthing alot of obsenities... I thought they weren't going to return on stage. But they did and continued to rock and when they were done, the singer slammed his mic on the ground. Straight up rock n roll.

sidenote, I got about an ounce and half of weed and my favorite pipe taken away from a "random search" by the tennessee state police as soon as we got in... I was pretty luck though, they only issued me a citation...I could've easily been in jail during bonnaroo :( I guess I learned my lesson

  2. ...I was trying to find a video on youtube of that.

Also, my friend and I have decided to make a flag to help find our campsite. If anyone sees the pirate and canadian flags thats us! stop by and say hi

  3. I can't justify being at a music festival and not knowing wilco was playing and I wasn't there... I dunno. I have really wanted to see the decemberists though, I am assuming there will be more opportunities.

  4. Aesop Rock, El-P, DJ Shadow > The String Cheese Incident.

agreed...id like to see string cheese but Aesop rock in itself is gonna rock out. I just really hope i find some fun stuff for the DJ shadow set :frog

lcd soundsystem: sounds of silver: i don't usually listen to this kind of music but what great songs. "all my firends" and "north american scum" are worth it, alone.

and if you want a little bakersfield styled country see if you can track down a two dollar pistols cd, especially "you ruined everything."

I was about to say the same, definetly a bitchin CD.

  6. this sounds like an AWESOME festival to me. There seems to be a lot of diversity and I really think thats what festivals should be about.

Question for the VC? Does anyone out here like drum n bass music? I saw dieselboy and andy c where playing at this and almost creamed my pants. REALLY wish I lived in maryland....really wish it wasn't same weekend as lollapalooza.... BUT IT LOOKS AWESOME!

  7. Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday night. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life...
