This thread made me dig out Figure 8 yesterday. I haven't listened to it in such a long time and I had forgotten what an extraordinary album it is.
Can I surmise from the very few musicians credited that Elliott played everything else on the album?

Late night breakfast
Actually, that is a nice thing to do. A bowl of cereal late at night is a treat.

A poached egg with ham, toast spread with avocado and garlic/chilli dip.
Cup of tea.
Contentment.

That is quite a beautiful guitar. I've not tried out a Dove yet (though there was one in the shop the other day - but I was deep in J-45 land on that particular day).
When it comes down to it I'm not going to be able to afford this guitar for quite a while but...man...the looking around is quite sweet. Feels right to be having to really work towards something like this rather than just buying something on a whim.

I've heard the adjustable bridges are undesirable. Is this the case?
I also love the look of an old J50 which, I'm told, is basically a J45 with a natural finish and bigger pick guard.

So I've played a few in a shop and they all sound beautiful:
Standard:
I've also played a True Vintage...
And then there was the purevoice...
All beautiful guitars in their own way and they all spoke to me.
So I don't know which one it's gonna be. Can't really afford one yet and, realistically, it's gonna be at least a year until I can. But that's OK. Some things you're meant to wait out. Meanwhile it's going to be a nice journey going into music stores when I can to sit down and play.
Anyone here have much experience with either the True Vintage or Purevoice?

Yes, I read it first about 15 years ago. On this re-reading I'm finding that I had remembered almost nothing about the book. And it's so beautiful!
I need to re-read this. Haven't since High School & I don't remember much.
That "Rant" book sounds really intriguing! I always get the best recommendations from this thread.

I'm deep in Steinbeck land right now and I'm loving it:

You can never have too many photos of Dylan walking around with a drum under his arm. I've always liked those photos.
Me too. They look candid in their blurriness but were probably quite staged. I imagine Bob at the last minute of the photo shoot discussions:
"Hey man, what if I was carrying a drum, too?"

I bought the Deluxe Set for $83 at popmarket.com(It was Tuesday's Daily Deal). I couldn't resist. I wanted that Complete Isle Of Wright show.
It's the book that comes with the deluxe set that has got me intrigued. Is there much to it?

NPR has a bunch of tracks streaming: Highlights from Another Self Portrait.
Love them. Such beautiful, simple arrangements.

I always enjoyed Self Portrait - the next Bootleg Series is from these sessions.
Holy Moly.
I love Self Portrait and New Morning. I am so excited about this.

Isolated vocal tracks for Starman and Five Years. This is pretty cool.

I've just finished this which has some beautiful descriptions of the rugged country that is the western coast of Australia. Great story, too.
Now I'm onto...

its introduced me to lots of new (old) music
