  1. The enduring qualities of the Monkees (and Dave Clark and Herman, etc.) comes from a time when things were far more innocent and expectations were lower, but at the same time, somehow listening to any of these groups is far less painful than listening to Christina or Britany.

That's because Top 40 hits these days are designed to sound like video games.

Anyone else worthwhile being inducted this year?

  2. But this site lists there being 3 other guys on tour with The Police for that "Ghost In The Machine" tour. I sure don't remember seeing them! :lol

I just read Andy Summers new book. He says they had three horn players on that tour. They probably kept the lights off them though, since the "three blond guys" was a manufactured image that would have been weakened by putting a spotlight on some grey haired, bearded saxophonists.

  3. The Faces were a fabulous band, but don't forget the Jeff Beck Group either.Hell,Ronnie Wood, pianist extrodinaire Nicky Hopkins...if that band would have stayed together they could have rivaled the mighty Zep. :rock Beck-Ola is essential imo.

True, awesome band...but I'd take Truth over Beck-Ola.

  4. Are you implying that every Republican, some Dems, and some Undecideds are too uneducated/stupid to put it into context? :pirate

No. What I'm saying is that republicans will not bother to put it into context, AND will have it spewed out of context from now until the polls are closed (or until republicans retain/regain control...whichever comes first) by Fox/Drudge/Rush/Hannity/Coulter,etc. Having said that, there are a lot of people of all politcal stripes who are too uneducated to put this into context.

  5. I don't know about that...between the news spots about Kerry there are 1,049,048 commercials for everyone's own various obnoxious local politicians that either incenses or motivates them as voters. While this will have an impact on the election, I feel it's going to be very slight.

Believe me, I hope you're right. I happen to think Fox News/talk radio and Drudge Report are far more influential than campaign commercials on tv.

Of course Diebold is more influential than any of that.

  6. Nevermind every other point I made, just knock the analogy...

My overarching point, as explained in the rest of my posts, is that people don't see Kerry has the 'leader' or the brainiac of the Dems but rather as the 'celebrity' of the Dems, because he was the dude that ran for office that one time...He said stupid things then that didn't get him elected, and he's saying stupid things again.

In that case, I strongly disagree with your point. The presidential nominee is a bit more than "the dude that ran for office that one time". Those stupid things he says, to a lot of people who hear them, are the official position of the democratic party. At the very least, it's extremely easy for Rove and Fox to spin those words into something equating the democratic talking points.

  7. many Republicans are still insisting that Kerry called the troops dumb when it is painfully obvious that he didn't.

What do you mean by "still"? His speech was yesterday, right? From now until Tuesday they'll be saying it louder and believing it more. Bank on that.

  8. no it won't, christ

OK, mayne not ALL democrats, but the democrats are far less likely to regain control of anything now. John Kerry was the nominee two years ago, and remains one of the three or four highest profile democrats currently in office. Every republican in America, plus lots of democrats and undecideds, right now believe he said soldiers are uneducated and/or stupid. OUCH...democrats just lost. See you in '08.
