  1. So I was fortunate enough to get tickets for all of the shows next week and I've given the other 4 to legit Wilco fans in my circle of friends. I'd rather have a real fan check out the 5th show.

PM me if you're interested. They came out to about $55.00 a piece after charges.

The 1 necessity is that you get to the Riv at 7:00 PM on Tuesday to get in line. It is paperless and I need to have my guest with my as I walk in.

  2. Sorry some of you had a bad experience, but I agree, the sitting/standing thing can ruin a show for sure...

Not to get off topic, but I saw Paul McCartney at Wrigley Field this past summer, and almost got into a fight because of it. I'm 27 and the gentleman behind me was probably near 50, and he was screaming at me to sit down every time I stood up (he was the only one sitting down in the section, but because of the angle, if I sat down, he'd be able to see sitting down). He yelled at me through the first 5 songs, and tried spitting at me. He quieted down, and continually drank his beers, and by the time Paul played Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da (the only song this guy knew the words to) he was standing up singing and dancing. I politely told him that Paul was in the Beatles and they have many other great songs besides this one, and if he wanted to borrow my records sometime I'd be glad to drop them off at his house. Lucky for me that song was soon followed by I've Got A Feeling with an (awesome) extended jam session, which he did not enjoy and he headed to his car where he proceeded to drunk drive and listen to Ob-La-Di on repeat (I can only assume).

If you're going to sit at a show, you are not entitled to be upset at those standing. Every person in non-handicapped seating has the option to sit or stand, and should be able to do so and still enjoy the show. Don't get me started on people talking throughout a whole entire set....

  3. Think I have carpal tunnel now.

Same here. And I thought trying to listen to the Lou Reed/Metallica album would have been my worst experience of the week.

Seems like a bunch of you got lucky so that's good. Lincoln Hall is a great venue and Wilco is Wilco so I'm sure you're in for a special show.

  4. I tried to get on the presale website for today to check out the price, and it put me in a virtual waiting room. So now you have to wait 10 minutes before tickets even go on sale. I think if Lady Gaga toured with the Jonas Brothers and 2Pac it would be easier to get tickets than a Wilco show in Chicago.

  5. I hope everyone was able to get tickets - no matter how close to the stage. I've never been to a rock show at the Civic Opera House, but I have a feeling the sound will be great anywhere you sit, even in the nosebleeds, so don't get too upset about seat location.

Those of you who didn't get any - if you wait it out closer to the show you can probably snag one on craigslist for near face value. Not everyone that resells tickets are evil, just the ones who have 3rd row tickets for $500 on Stubhub after a will call only Wilco presale.

  6.

Right at 10? The Ticketmaster page didn't even let you select tickets until 10:08 or 10:09

Also, there are no will call only restrictions on the public tickets, correct? That means tons will be going on craigslist, etc

I used Google Chrome and reloaded starting at 9:59, and right at 10:00 the option came up to buy tickets. I like Google Chrome better than IE when buying tickets, because I ran into the problem you had many times over the years. Think it's an issue with cookies.

  7. Gotta be, especially in Chicago. Better not be a bunch of tools talking during the show and checking their phones every 2 seconds.

Unless you are singing along, saying "that was great" or "my water broke", or asking an usher where your seat are, you should be escorted out of the building for talking at a concert.

  8. I got through right at 10 and grabbed a pair from the Jam Productions presale. They are main floor, but in the back left. I wonder how the sound is back there....

The guy next to me at work got in at the same exact time and tried the XRT presale and they were gone.

Buying tickets is getting to be a huge pain...but I'm happy I grabbed a pair and I'm hoping at least some of you were able to get some.

  10. I agree with most of you here. This album is kind of falling in the "nothing special" category for me.

Evil Urges wasn't great, but it had "Smokin From Shootin" on it which is one of my favorite MMJ songs ever. This one is consistent, but consistently mediocre.

I'm thinking "Victory Dance", "Circuital," "Outta My System," and "Holdin On To Black Metal" are the only songs that'll make the cut on the iPod. Maybe I'll change my mind after seeing them at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza...
