  1. Yeah in the end he got a good gig, but he didn't want to leave and wasn't happy with the way it went down. Farmer wanted to do play by play and kind of forced the issue.

Yeah I really thought the Jeter thing was a misprint when OilCan posted that. Wow.

Huh. I had no idea. That sounds like what happened to Tom Paciorek (except with Hawk in that case).

  2. Baseballreference wins:

If you go to the website and click the "we can't believe it either" link, it takes you to a ranking of their "Runs Saved" stat that shows that Jeter cost his team more runs defensively than any other person who spent even an inning at SS in the American League. Go voters!

It probably should've been Alexei Ramirez, eh? Kind of funny, since he was statistically a very bad 2B. He always had the physical tools, but this year he seemed to have better concentration.

  3. That sounds like a terrible idea. Do you really do that?

It's kind of similar to SAD treatment (which is is more of a 45 degree angle than straight-on).

Anyway, filtered coffee in moderate amounts is shown to have a net health benefit in study after study. Carm down.

  4. Does anyone think that they should eliminate the travel/off days? Then the strategy and roster utilization would be more similar to the regular season. On the other hand, the off days let the fans see more of the very best players.

The Twins happen to have lost a bunch of playoff games in a row, but it's silly to think that they'll never win a series in the near future. They probably need more front-line pitching, but that's their only real weakness.

  5. I'm no surgeon, but severing a nerve to remove a cyst sounds like a little more than just a "less than perfect" outcome. If my livelihood was jeopardized by a mistake like that, I'd also be inclined to sue.

For the doctor's sake, I hope he explained that this was a possible complication of the surgery and Braden knew the risks going into the procedure.

He's alluding to Braden's perfect game.
