  1. I'm not convinced that non-violent resistance couldn't have stopped Hitler. It would have had to have been at the right time. Most all of the churches fell in line with the Nazis. Of course people would been killed and tortured. Thus

both sacrificed their lives for taking this stand.

As it was, plenty of people were killed and tortured.

And so instead we fight in Afghanistan against the remnants of the mujahideen, who were funded as part of the cold war, which was a result of World War 2, which was a result of World War 1. And on and on. And yet, surely Obama must be right. Surely if we fight enough good and just wars someday we will have peace.

  2. Retiring during off-seasons only is annoying. I mean, even Roger Clemens was at least "retired" for parts of seasons during his fake-outs. Something something vegetarian between meals something something.

  3. They did have Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me. That was pretty good.

I edited my post about the song earlier, but I clicked the wrong button.

It was something about being allergic to Bono's recent lyrics

The D-backs, Tigers and Yankees reportedly agreed in principle Tuesday on a deal that would send Tigers center fielder Curtis Granderson to New York in the first major deal of this year's Winter Meetings.

In the seven-player trade, SI.com's John Heyman reported that the D-Backs would receive right-handers Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy from the Tigers and Yankees, respectively, while the Tigers would get pitchers Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth from Arizona and outfielder Austin Jackson and left-hander Phil Coke from New York.

  5. I'm calling bullshit on most of the specific details of the story now that I think about it. I know it has been reprinted in several reputable papers. However, aren't there something like 100 people who that wealthy in the world? How many of them were women and recently died in Germany? It seems like the lawyer's secrecy would be ineffective and that one of these news organizations could do some research and figure out who the aunt could possibly be.

  6. I'm serial..

Hey solace - Why did I have several people on my ignore list, when I definitely did not put them there? Some kind of forum bug, or can VCers somehow force me to ignore them?

There was a bug that caused that when the board was upgraded. I had the same thing happen to me. I don't think it has to do with other people putting you on their list.
