Yeah, I missed out on the union chapel for some reason... Was very miffed after the Brixton cancellation, especially as no reason was given.

I've still got a ticket from that as well.
I prefer the Roundhouse and the area more to the Academy and Brixton. No decent pubs there and getting back, for me, is a nightmare from there.
I'd like to see another Tweedy solo show in London...

Recently bought Jesus of Cool on coloured vinyl from Yep Roc's sale. Lovely. He's playing the Cambridge Corn Exchange next year. I shall be going.

Yeah, Rich T was there on Friday night. I was there with Helen on Sat night.
I completely forgot to email you - my fault! It was only when I was walking to the Roundhouse did it dawn on me, so I kept an eye out but must have missed you.
The Nick Lowe thing is STILL making me smile....

Nick Lowe coming on stage for the encore made an already special night even better. I think that's the happiest I've seen Jeff and it showed on stage - an incredible night. Certainly the best I've seen them. I was standing almost next to the crutches guys, trying to avoid getting hit on the head at one point!
I liked the Roundhouse as a venue too - my first time there. Wonderful building.
I also now own a Wilco scarf. Just in time for the cold snap approaching...
I tried looking out for you Andrew, and thought your Giraffe like stature would stick out!

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised Andrew!

How is that Farrar/Gibbard collaboration? I never listened to it...
I listen to it a lot, certainly in the car, got a great road-trip vibe to it and a lovely smooth production.

Ha! As the French were starting to find their feet I was beginning to wonder with the AB's would bottle it again, but you kept your nerve. Nice to see the team look so pleased as well, such a relief!

This is a bit of blatant self-promotion, but I've recently been given my own radio show on a local community-run station in Cambridge, UK.
Named after a Jim O'Rourke album, it's called The Visitor and my debut show is now available to stream / download:

Second show is live this Thursday, 7-9pm UK time. You can stream it live, but I'll post a reminder nearer the time if people don't mind!

The result was tough on us, but I'm more annoyed with us not kicking the points and taking the opportunity for a drop goal when we were in their 22, that the card is just a side story. We played better than France but couldn't take our chances. It was *almost* like the Wales of old - lots of pressure but no points.
Can't look beyond the AB's now - they squeezed the life out of Australia yesterday and they'll do the same to the damp froggy mess the French have become under Lievermont.
Gutted.

Well if I find one I will PM you. I keep being outbid on these things. I may find one at a store however. You never know.

Thanks very much Louie, you're very kind!

Showing off I guess, but:
Sounding good to me so far!

I love Ellroy. A number of years ago he came out to Australia for a book reading tour. I went and saw him at the Metro here in Sydney. After the show, he was signing books in the foyer. I had my newly purchased copy of American Tabloid with me. When I reached the front of the line he asked me my name, I told him Fritz. He got really excited. He started in on this rap/monologue about his sitting with his Dad when he was a kid watching television. Every time something came on the box his Dad didn't like he would shout out, "Fuck you, Fritz! Fuck you, Fritz!"
He then asked if could he write 'Fuck you, Fritz' as a message in my book. I agreed and this look of sheer joy came over his face. He signed the book, thanked me and that was it.
It is still one of my most treasured books.
That's a great story!
I'd definitely recommend American Tabloid as a starting place - amazing story arc and characters.
What's this like? A friend sent it to me but I haven't ventured into it yet.
It's a really nice story, well written - I found it a bit glossy in places, but a thoroughly enjoyable romp!

So Welch Rich where do you live? I keep looking for a reasonable copy. So far the eBay copies have mostly gone for over 10 buciks. But when I find one it is coming your way.

I'm in the UK - we're a bit short on second hand record shops in Cambridge, which is real disappointment! Thanks!
-
Wow. Well. What a weekend!
-
There are still vinyl copies of Meddle floating around out there. I bought one in recent years.

I always keep my eyes peeled, but without resorting to ebay, it's a poor selection.

Is this a straight forward remastering exercise? The wikipedia article read more like an advert than giving me proper information.
