There's been some discussion about the "reworked" Beatles stuff in the Now Playing thread... I'm not sure about it all, I don't see the need for this embelished songs. Especially as most of the reviews have focused on how good they sound compared with the actual songs themselves. Anyway - this is an interesting article from The Times about why they might have chosen to do it...

Digging the AAS stuff then??

I couldn't believe it when I saw the title of this thread... that's a real, real shame - made some fantastic films, M*A*S*H being one of my favs...
-
Of course! Have you got your record player up and running now? I can send it back to you

I'm glad it's going well - just a shame I can't come to any of them, they sound amazing! -
I'd love to get YHF on Vinyl... I think my most prized one is a Portishead white label, limited to 200 copies I managed to get one in my record shop back in Wales... Only been played once I've also got Armed Forces on vinyl that's got loads of postcards with it and folds out... that's cool to, though i bought it second hand and it's not great quality.

Good stuff Matt - glad its going well. Any indie night that's more left-field AND has cakes sounds good to me

Yeah, reminds me a bit of Portishead in places too... quite nice, nothing too mind blowing, but nice...

I'm sorry to say this passed me by for some reason (obviously not in terms of going to the event, which is a shame) but I came across your website (http://www.wordlessmusic.org/) whilst reading stuff on The Morning News... Hope it went well anyway!! -
how odd!

'tis a great, great album that!

So I'm listening to Rock Plaza Central over on their myspace site: http://myspace.com/rockplazacentral And their record is amazing... but the premise of it is even better: Reading it I laughed but was also equally amazed at the thought gone into it...

Sam's Town is the best track off it - a catchy pop tune, but the rest of the album is pretty poor imo... I wasn't taken with the My Chemical Romance one either, but my Dad likes it, so perhaps that says something Too much Queen, not enough original ideas. Spinning this now: Not bad...

Got sent this to review over the weekend, getting its first play now: After reading a couple of thoughts on it on these very boards, I was a little worried but I've been impressed. Great sound, even if Neil's vocals are a bit shakey... I don't know a great deal about the Crazy Horse period of Young's career, perhaps I should investigate more!

I'd kind of forgotten about it, but all this talk about Gruff's new album has got me playing the SFA back catalogue again and I'd forgotten just how good Phantom Power is...
-
Definitely... I just don't understand why it's been done... other than to fill up the pockets of some record companies before christmas.

What's that ACTUALLY like? All the reviews I've read have raved about it, but I just don't get what it's all about... For me, more darkness...

Looking on Amazon, that's the only cover they had... so don't know what it's supposed to be from... I was just after the normal cover. Amazon.com have got the right one though:

Mmmm - I love porter, it's really hard to find though. Now that it's Autumn, might find it in a couple of pubs... perhaps I'll spot one tonight, otherwise, 3 hours till:
