Technical question... AVI files to DVD?
Welsh Rich replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning

Right... I'm new to this whole DVD thing, but think it's a separate thread to the other one about ripping stuff... I've got a stack of AVI files and I want to make a DVD of them that I can play in my home, bog standard DVD player... Any ideas? Can I just burn them or do I need to convert them to something else first? All help would be graciously received! Thanks!

"Roscoe" rules, I'll give you that - heard it on a Bella Union sampler earlier in the year, which sparked my interested...

This is what makes music fun though; everyone's different opinions. I'll certainly accept people's opinion on the midlake record, I've just ended up taking the piss out of myself for saying it's rubbish all the time

M. Ward, Black Keys, Thom Yorke, Muse, TV on the Radio, Roddy Woomble... those are just off the top of my head It's getting loads of props from Mojo, Uncut and Q though... To finish the working day...

I think I'm just a little worried that I'm missing something Everyone seems to think it's great, I seem to be the only one who doesn't rate it (other than maybe 2 tracks)... perhaps my hearing is finally damaged permanently after years of standing too close to the speakers at live gigs and over loud personal stereos and I can't hear the same things as you guys!! I also think I've heard better albums this year that deserve the same adulation as the Midlake one is getting...

I want to be known as the cranky old man of the NP thread, trying to convince innocent listeners of the dangers of Midlake!! Decemberists: The Crane Wife........ here goes...

I second the YHF choice for sure - completely changed my outlook on music and opened me to so many different things. I'm also going to recommend: Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon The Blue Nile - Hats Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker U2 - Achtung Baby (the best modern rock record?) Apart from Ryan Adams, these were all albums my Dad lent me to listen to as I was growing up... even the Floyd took a while to grow on me, and Dylan took ages, just couldn't get around the music being played... As for the U2 album, I was initially scpetical of the whole

So... Was in The Brewary Yard on St. Mary's St on Friday night with a couple of mates (where the old Brains brewary used to be) and who should come in, rather p*ssed up, but the entire Cardiff Blues squad... Plenty of Brains and alcopops were drunk when Gethin Jenkins picked up Xavier Rush and promptly spun him around on his shoulders narrowly avoiding women, children and pints at the bar! Quite funny, but also, perhaps, an indication of how seriously they're taking the season which is meerly a week away.... oh well, looked like they were having fun at least. Going to try and make an Osp
