Alright, first off, this is my first time posting a tab, so if there are any errors or it looks all weird, I apologize in advance. I'll fix it if I can. Okay, now on to business. I've loved the solo version of this song since I first heard it, and recently figured it out on guitar (or at least I think it sounds like it). Haven't seen any tabs of it, so I figured I'd post it. Enjoy, folks.

(Tabbed from 1/8/03 version)

Drop D Tuning (DADGBE)

I'm not sure how to write the strumming, so I'll just post the notes. If you've heard it, you'll know how it goes:

Fig. 1 (Intro)

E ------0------0-----0------0------3----2----0

B -----10-----8-----7------8------0-------------

G -----11-----9-----7------9------0------------

D ------0-----0------0------0------2------------

A ------0-----0------0------0------2------------

D ------X-----X------X-----X------2------------

Emin

E ----X---------X----0-----------------------------------X

B ----5---3-----X---------3----------5---3---5/7-------3

G ----X---------2----------------------------------------2

D ----X---------0----------------0-----------------------0

A ----X---------0----------------X-----------------------0

D ----5---------0----------------5-----------------------0

G D G D

So, play Fig. 1 twice for the intro, and then you get to the lyrics. Jeff plays the chords just holding down the bottom three strings (DAD)

Emin G F# Emin

Someday, some morning

A D

Sometime, sometime

Emin G D

I'd like to hold your hand in mine

Emin G D

Someday, some morning, sometime

I'd like to tell you

You're pretty and fine

Your face will smile and your eyes will shine

Someday, some morning, sometime

The chords are the same for all four verses. After the second verse, play Fig. 1 once more. Then, the last two verses:

Five, six, seven

And eight, or nine

I'll give you a nickel, I'll give you a dime

Someday, some morning, sometime

I'll build you a house

All covered in vines

I'll take you down where the birds fly by

Someday, some morning, sometime

After the verses, there's this little section:

Fig. 2

E ---------------------------------

B -----------3-----------5-----3--

G ---------------------------------

D --------4---------0--------------

A --------0---------X--------------

D --------0---------5--------------

That's played three times in a row. The fourth time, you told the D for the same time it takes to play Fig. 2.

And after that, play Fig. 1 once more and end on D

I hope this helps anyone wanting to learn the song. You have to listen to a copy to know exactly what the rhythm is, but once you get it down, it's a really fun song to play. So, there it is.

Have fun.

(Edit: I can't get the chords to line up with the words like I wanted. Keep in mind that the Emin and the F# are the kind of chords you play quickly on the way to something else, like a walk-up/transitional chord or something like that - Sorry if there's a technical term for it; I don't know it. )

I don't think this is right, that may sound close to correct but I don't think that is the way he plays it I'm pretty sure he is in what sounds like open C I am trying to figure it out, I have the bootleg dvd I'm looking at

What doesn't sound right? He definately hits only the top three strings on the chords so, that phrasing is right, even if it is in open C. As far as the intro, I think that sounds spot on. There is a chord somewhere missing, but I can't find it.

yeah the top 3 strings are definetly dropped down but when he's not fretting anything and its sounding like a C I think the tuning is more liek CGCGCE but I am also looking at a different version and have failed to work through it yet so........
